That is Carters shooting percentage as a flyer from 05' to 11" Thats not off the charts by any stretch of the imagination. - GOA88

Great stuff! Got a similar story to "parent". When I was very young, I thought the Flyers players and Fred Sharp actually lived at the Spectrum since they played "home" games there. - bmeltzer
Haha, how cool would it have been to have 'lived' in the Spectrum back then. Although for a couple years in the 80's I think spent more time there then at home with the games, concerts, the old stereo shows/sales they used to have, good times, good times. |

So you judge based solely on points scored I see. Shows what you know about hockey. |

No, he said shooting %:
Also his shooting percentage is god awful.....just take a look at how many shots it took for him to get his goals.... just saying

Definitely better the last 2 seasons, but fairly substandard his first 3, with a big drop in his 2nd year. - jmatchett383
That's pretty normal for a young player coming into the League. Clear trend of developing that part of the game. To the point where in his last two Seasons here, he was very good at faceoffs. |

But, but... Dude? Forsberg never had his best year here. How do you justify that?
- mayorofangrytown
Forsberg was still great when he played with the Flyers. The team went from playoff contender to worst team in hockey when he got injured.
I'm just strictly taking into account their FLYERS careers. |

Show me a stat that shows how many times a player misses the net. There is no such thing. |

Carter plays wing in LA, right? Am I remembering it wrong, or did he always prefer to play Center when he was here? |

So in 2 of his past 5 seasons he has been one of the most dominant goal scorers in the league... but he doesnt have the ability to be that dominant? He does. He has shown it. That is what is so damn frustrating about him.
You think he consistently shows the same amount of heart as a guy like Richards? Its not even close. - jak521
Dominance is far more then just about scoring goals. He was and still is one of the top goal scoring forwards in the League. he's never been a dominant player, and doesn't have that ability. Expecting him to be a dominant player is the problem. I've never seen an issue with Carter's heart on the ice. |

Preferred center and was MUCH better at center. He's such a great skater and never really liked battling along the boards.
He scored a lot of goals this past season, but I wouldn't call he and Richards line 'dynamic' by any means. A good 2nd line though. |

Mike Richards isnt a goal scorer per say.... Mike is a two-way forward with heart and one of the best penalty killers the flyers have ever had. - GOA88
Jeff Carter is also a two way Forward. My comment was directed towards your comment about Carter always missing the net. He didn't miss the net any more then any other top shot producer in the NHL does, percentage wise. |

Yes he does.
And yes he did.
He resisted the move to wing while here. Meanwhile, his size and skill set are totally conducive to playing the wing.
It's not like Carter was this great passer who was dishing and setting up teammates. He was a goal scorer. |

Giroux wasn't exactly a dynamo in his own end, so the points are very important, yes. He scored at a point per game clip, but I think 'top 3 player' is a significant exaggeration, at least as far as last year goes. |

The point really is that nobody can exactly know what a players reaction is for. maybe he was unhappy about his own shift, and that was the reason for his body actions. To think that anyone can know what a player is reacting to from the stands by his mannerisms is flat out rediculous. - MJL
When a dude scores a goal I should not assume he's happy because he smiles and raises his arms. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Friday Quick Hits, Team of the 2000s Reader Poll - bmeltzer
Giroux is winning the poll, which disappoints me. In the year 2000 the Richards/Carter and Roenick/Primeau Era has done a lot more. I voted for Jeremy Roenick who was a gamer In both the regular season and the playoffs. He never needed an excuse to play well.
March 12 2002 at the ACC first live game.
Earliest memory was the Stanley Cup Final against the Red Wings in 1997
When I got serious as a kid to the point of obsession was a year later in the playoffs against the Buffalo Sabers. Hasek was the man but the Flyers still managed to make him look average in net at times. Eric Lindros, John Leclair and number 12 Colin Forbes were my players |

It was shooting %, not missed shots on goal. I'm not doing the legwork for every player in the NHL, but I did do the Richards comparison. |
