I had to put Voracek over Jagr. The fact that he was only here for one season, and that he really wasn't much of a factor in the playoffs that year kept him off my top 6.
- BiggE

He WAS a factor in the Pittsburgh series. Had points in five of the six games and the GWG in the third period game two. Did not do much in NJ series.

He was the main guy I was debating between with Jagr, certainly worthy.

Where can you purchase tickets to the WJ camp games in placid? I live about an hour away and would love to go check out the games next Saturday.

Can get them at the Olympic Center box office or online: http://worldjuniors.usaho...262398?referrer_id=797432

Learn your history. Aside for the respect that should have been given, regardless of how poorly Barbers coaching performance was, for being a Flyers legend, Hockey Hall of Famer, his wife was DYING of cancer during this time and you never heard a peep about it. The complete lack of professionalism employed was reprehensible.

Meanwhile, he'd won the Jack Adams the previous year and had a successful track record (including a Calder Cup championship) as an AHL head coach, so he couldn't have been THAT bad.

I agree. I think there was too much of a burden put on him. It's very difficult to be a young captain. Of all the young captains, Toews seems to be the only one that truly was fit for it this early. Guys like Crosby, Ovechkin and Richards just weren't ready to handle that burden yet.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yes, I agree. They didn't have to rush him into that role as there were many other choice at the time. Hopefully the same thing doesn't happen to G!

No he wasn't a bad coach, and if he wanted to get back into coaching he probably could have. Thee thing that bothers me is the irrational hate towards a player(not you bill) for disagreeing with the style a coach wants to play. Barber is a flyer legend, but recchi was also a great player, imo a hall of fame player.

Probably because Toews is the only one of those guys who hasn't been to a Kenny Chesney concert. That poop will (frank) up your life.

Kenny Chesney comes to town - Richards and Carter get traded days later.
Kenny Chesney comes to town - Riley Cooper becomes a racist

Can't wait for the next tour.

I never said a word about nor attempted to disparage his talent or achievements, I'm referring to his character. To me, he's not a Flyer.....just my feeling, don't let it bother you

Bill, your recollection of people and events in Flyers history is nothing short of amazing. I would tend to agree w most of your list. However, I think a lot of people tend to think in the present or close to it, unless there was something remarkable that won't soon be forgotten. Primeau's leadership on the ice, willingness to drop the gloves to protect his teammates, and that 5 overtime goal to beat the Pens was incredible.

Side note: In your post you wrote that Ulf Samuelsson was one of the fathers that played for the Flyers. I believe you meant Kjell. Surprised no one else caught this.

Keep up the good work!

Gagne, Hartnell, Knuble, Recchi, Voracek and LeClair (although he was in marked decline because of the back issues, he still was a bankable 20-25 goals). Strongly considered Jagr, because his impact was deeper than just his stats in one year with the team but went with LeClair.
- bmeltzer

I took Jagr over Recchi. Recchi probably deserved the vote though.

watched Game 6 1987 finals last night for the first time.

the fan with the orange dye job was mesmerizing.
seemed awkward/nervous the first time the camera guy filmed him, but by the end of the game he was pulling out a Gretzky doll with a noose tied around its neck

also Gene Hart is amazing

I hear you, but the way the Pens played D coupled with the goaltending of Fleury made a lot of guys look good in that series

I just don't think that one year was enough to put him ahead of Voracek or Kapanen. On my list Jagr would be 8th right after Leclair who just missed the cut.

I dont remember exactly what went down. I just don't think recchi is or was ever a traitorous dog. Recchi went on to become a vital part of 2 cup runs with other teams, and barber never coached again for whatever reason
