They blatantly turned the puck over in the neutral zone and our forwards were caught which gave carter time and space late in the game.
Of course it woulda bern nice for a big save.
Great shot and hardly his loss. - hugefemale dog77
Uhm no actually the puck hit the ref when Taylor Hall tried to dump it in. Then Carter was streaking down the WING, not even down the middle. Dubnyk should have made the save, but he didn't, thus why I said he lets in goals at the worst time. |

Why would the Oilers (or any team) trade ANY assets for an aging Miller, when Thomas is unsigned and he actually won something? |

Debunking Dubnyk's mythical parade of Letdowns:
11 of 19 games where Dubnyk was under .920 in sv% we had 2 or fewer goals. In 6 of those 11 we had 1 or 0 goals.
In 3 of the remaining 6 games, we won. Also, of the remaining 6 games, he had a better sv% then the other goaltender in 3 but we got significantly outshot.
Of the remaining 3 games, we got points in one of them.
The Remaining 2 games:
San Jose 6-3 Dubnyk 11/17 (.647), pulled after 1 period.
Minnesota 5-3 Dubnyk 30/35 (.833) 1 PPG allowed. Team outshot 30-19
Of these two, I'll say that Dubnyk blew the San Jose game. 6 goals (3 on the PK) is brutal for any team (two in the last two minutes of the first), but Dubnyk shanked it.
The other one I don't see as that bad a stat line considering how the rest of the team played.
I literally only see one Loss that falls squarely on Dubnyk's shoulders. - Morris
You can't just look at it by the numbers. Just as Edmonton was getting their legs under them, Dubnyk would let in a softie. Then the momentum is gone. Also do you remember when Edmonton came back from the Colorado game down 4-1? Dubnyk was completely bailed out by the team in that one.

Because Tim Thomas is a nutcase? I agree though. |

I remember Kreugers comment after the game. He said that Dubs has given them a chance for wins all season, he wasn't going to put one bad game on him. It's time the players start bailing out their goaltender once in a while. |

The problem with Edmontons goalie situation isn't the numbers, its the time.
I can't even count how many times Dubnyk let an awful goal in at the worst possible time. Oilers management is looking for players who put in a consistent effort, and Dubnyk isn't what the doctor ordered for MacT.
Despite the numbers, Ryan Miller is the superior goalie to Dubey. As for the trade...
Miller's value may have dropped, but it's not like Hemsky's has suddenly inflated. I'd say a mid/high level prospect plus Hemsky minus half his salary is fair. When Miller eventually gets traded, it won't be for the King's ransom that Sabres fans want. - TomKlassen
Pretty much how I felt watching the Edmonton games I watched this year. Goaltending let them down in a good chunk of games.
I dont understand why Buffalo is being stingy with not retaining salary on Miller (or Vanek) for a year - 1 year at 3.125M cap and salary.. Thats the only way I would expect a "kings ransom" kind of return.
At full salary and cap hit I think hes worth at least just a 1st round pick. I wouldve offered Miller at 50% to the Isles for their 1st in 2014 and Niederreiter.

Nutcase?
The fact the he doesn't like Obama is irrelevant.
Lots of people don't like Obama.

We know, he is worth a huge return,

How about 6 in one game, all one right after the other?
Or how about Nashville and the floater from Legwand?
Oh yeah Los Angeles with about 50 seconds to go in the game and we lost?
Vancouver when they scored with about 3 minutes to go in the game to tie it, followed by letting one in in overtime?
I could go all day brother. - TomKlassen
All missteps but I don't consider all of these to be Dubnyk costing us games to any degree.
I'd argue that allowing three goals on the PK, and two in the last two minutes of a period suggests a lack of team focus. He did drop the ball there though.
The Nasvhille goal: what a bummer. If he had saved that the game could have been a close 5-0 loss.
Dubnyk was the first star of that Vancouver game! A bit rich to love the 37 saves and hate the one blooper.
Honestly, these are non-issues on a better team. And every single goalie has a couple of these.
Oh, and did you notice I didn't address the Carter goal? That's because Khabibulin was in net.

Again, can you point to specific games where Goaltending was bad and it cost them? The San Jose one jumps out at you, but other than that there weren't many... |

I'm not saying Dubnyk is great, but he's low priority to upgrade imo. You may believe that teams need to build around a #1 goaltender, but I feel like he's good enough to worry about other things for now.
Again, the suggestion to concentrate on upgrading goaltending because of a softie let in a 6-0 loss or a 6-goal period seems like a misdiagnosis to me. |

The point is that he gave the Oilers a chance on the majority nights he played. That's all you can ask for, especially with the offence this team should produce. I don't think he has reached his prime yet. If he can get numbers somewhere close to the top ten in the league consistently that's good enough for me.

yes it will..did u see what we got for Pomer??..not sure how Darcy does it but he always manages to ripoff teams in trades..and that kind of return for Miller is very possible, I was being generous |

As I said, a ton of games in which he was below average, the team was worse. 11 of his 19 games under average sv%, the team had 2 or less goals. 6 of those games they had 1 or 0.

Niemi was replaced by Crawford without a hitch...Emery was in there too...it all depends on the coaching style, not the goaltender, goaltenders have been released so often and traded for so little its unbelievable in the past 10 years...So I agree completely...I used to think Dubnyk was the thing holding the Oilers back, but then I watched more oilers games to see what their problem actually was...and it was that they have not been consistent enough to be a winning team, they'll score 8 1 game, and then 1 the next game...it was moronic what Krueger and past coaches have done with that team, as a Canucks fan, I actually do hope they improve under Eakins, I'm actually getting bored of watching the Canucks roll over the easier teams and then get blasted by the real contenders come playoff time, i'd love if every team was at least pretty good during the regular season at the very least... |
