Even though we had a younger goalie with better numbers and half the salary, added to having much greater needs in other areas, we should trade valuable assets for miller

Makes sense to me.

Well then WTF is Mactarded waiting for??? He needs to pull the trigger on this deal right now. Wait. Was that Vezina and Olympic silver medal before Lucic ran him over and the pussies that are the Sabres did nothing about it???

There's not many goalies who did better than Dubnyk last season. And over the last 3 seasons, Dubnyk has had very respectable numbers. Put him behind a half decent defense, and you'll have a hard-on for the guy.

3 game set in seattle against the jays!

I plan on consuming dangerous amounts of alcohol, possibly getting kicked out of safeco and thus 'murica. Which should be a solid catalyst for the jays to go on a 20 game win streak.

Go jays

Sounds like a good trip. Only been to Seattle a few times and it has always been great, cheap food and booze, and now you can even smoke legally (if you partake in that) Never been to a baseball game, the sport bores the hell out of me, but I've heard the atmosphere is pretty unreal.

Agreed. They took an elite goalie in the league and destroyed his confidence by not sticking up for him. When it happened Miller needed to see that his teammates would stick up for him. It didn't happen. Gaustad took a small beating for him but it was far too long after the fact to inspire confidence in him that his team had his back. After Lucic ran him somebody needed to fight him for the sake of fighting him. Teammates need to do that. Gagner is an amazing teammate. Although he was a lazy wiener too... Penner was a very good teammate. Gagner for captain and Miller to stay with Buffalo.

I personally think he has all the talent in the world but he seems like a guy who likes to throw problems in different directions in the locker room. He seems like a whiny b!tch to me and if I were the Oilers I wouldnt touch him.

The Oilers are on pace to have a very solid team, A little behind track? yes. But they still can be contenders with the right signings.

Miller on the other hand couldnt be the best thing that ever happened to you, or the absolute worse.

It seems like when there is a losing team in front of him he tends to not give a shyt and blames everyone else.

I think the OIL should stick with Dubby another year and see what he can bring, because they clearly arent contenders this coming season. Then after that if he doesnt pan out, Make there move.

I'd much rather keep Dubnyk... THANKXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

And you'll prob miss the playoffs,
Again
Miller is still a top Goalie in this league
I know his numbers don't show it, but our defense really was that bad. And not just our "defensemen" but guys like Hodgson & Ennis were HORRIBLE with their defensive zone coverage
And we offered very little physicality and protection for Miller (a problem for years), so there was constant traffic in & around the crease

No goalie would've looked good on the Sabres last year
It's actually been a problem for a few years now

That is just it...the Oiler defence is worse and DD put up better numbers than Miller.

Adding Miller does not guarantee the Oilers make the playoffs, while keeping DD gives them just as good a chance, so why make that trade?

Just because Miller is better doesn't mean that we should drop everything and go acquire him. For Hemsky straight up, sure, but I'm not giving 1sts up for some brat whose going to undermine any attempts we've made at a culture change and then walk.

The debate isn't about Dubnyk and Miller. It's about whether it's prudent to acquire Miller if the cost is much beyond Hemsky. It's not prudent.

bang on. Miller is not enough of an upgrade to risk the baggage/salary and Dubnyk is solid. you said in another post that there are maybe 5 goalies that can dominate games, there rest are solid, trustworthy puck stops. Dubbie is never going to be Lundquist, but he could be a Crawford or Howard or Smith. He is close right now.

use our assets to address bigger needs. you might make a deal like this after Dubbie costs us a playoff series, but goaltending in not a big enough need just yet.
