Yeah, it was kind of like choosing over irregular, fire damaged WalMart jeans |

Cechmanek had a couple great REGULAR seasons but in the playoffs he was about as abysmal as Bryzgalov........ - GOA88
That's innacurate. Cechhmanek had a couple of very strong playoff campaigns as a Flyer. |

Its kind of amazing how well we have done over the last 11 and a half seasons considering how poor our goaltenders were. |

I picked Nitty only for reason that he is the last drafted/developed goalie by the Flyers.
He had so much promise:
Late rd pick
Success in Europe
AHL Championship & MVP
Olympic Silver & MVP
If he had a good hip & Pitkanen had a brain the Flyers would have had their franchise goalie & dman.

Ugh that is a depressing goalie list. I picked esche over nitty. Emery didn't play here long enough to get my consideration. |

I knew Cechmanek would get some support here.
I would probably select either of Silent Bob Esche or Marty Biron.....both of whom enjoyed more playoff success than Checko.
Boosh is great and has had some signature moments and saves, but 2010 wasn't all Boosh's doing. Michael Leighton really saved that team's bacon during the regular season and earned the Winter Classic start in Boston, as some of you might recall. |

Yeah, consider this a write-in vote for Bobrovsky. |

I picked Ceckmanek. He was the best goalie. Not the most likable person, but the best goalie.
Boucher has played the most games, but his best season by far was '99-00 so that hurts his chances.
Also considered Biron. He was a big part of the turnaround and his end of season numbers were pretty consistent. (Not his game by game play though). He also performed well in the playoffs. I recall their series against Washington when they nearly blew a 3-1 series lead. Biron held them in game 7 when Washington just blitzed the Flyers in the 2nd and 3rd period. If the Flyers don't get that PP, I don't see how they would have won. |

I know... I thought they outplayed Chicago in that series, they just needed a goaltending performance that wasnt soft in that series and the cup would have been ours. - GOA88
The flyers certainly did not outplay Chicago
Just as in the 2008 presidential election, I can't bring myself to vote |

There's no way anyone but Cechmanek should be voted for. By far the best goalie of the last decade+. Biron and Boucher could battle it out for backup.
Edit: Bill, that said, shouldn't Bobrovsky be on the list? He spent more time here than several of the other goalies. - jmatchett383
He should... but my concern is that people would look at what he did for Columbus last year rather than in his one year as a Flyers semi-starter. |

I liked Biron, but his lasting impression in my mind was the Pittsburgh game in 2009. They came back from (I believe) either 4-2 or 5-3 down int he third and tied it. Then there was that dump where Biron came out to the blue line and jumped on it...then he let it go to a Pittsburgh player who gave it to Crosby and an easy empty netter and Pittsburgh won. The next day was the Carnival and the line for autos/pictures with him was pretty bare. |

Glad to see Stolarz get off to a good start. Hopefully, he can build off of last season and continue to progress. He's the only goalie prospect we have.
The Sabers have a ton of goalie prospects. I would think about trading a guy like Laughton for a top goalie prospect. Sabers could really use some young NHL ready talent. |

They're not horrible, but few of them are really bona fide number one guys. They're guys you can win with, but except in a few instances-like Biron vs the Habs in 2008-they're not guys who will be the driving force behind those wins.
To be fair, they have had a lot more success when they have gone with the "just a guy" route than when they've tried to get a "stud" |
