I agree 100%. I think all hell is going to break loose in Russia during the Olympics.

you mean when Kopitar scores in OT in the gold medal game to lead his home country of Slovenia over the hometown Russian squad, then 'Yakupov' 's down the ice on both knees and the refs let loose several grizzlies to get the slovenians off the ice??

It would be more interesting if they let loose the bears and locked them and the Slovenians on the ice. THE ICE RUNS RED IN RUSSA.

I disagree... Somewhat.

I believe that dinosaurs no longer walk the Earth, however, I do believe that they still exist. I believe that many dinosaurs fled to another planet when news of the comet hitting their/our planet got out. I believe that many UFOs are actually being operated by dinosaurs who will eventually take back their planet.

Dragons are another story. I do not believe in dragons.

Also, I think people's judgement can be clouded when they are a big fan of somebody. I don't hate Button, but a lot of what he has says is overly optimistic...and a lot of BS

- TheNugeIsHuge

And your point? Comparisons get taking way over the edge. It's not meant to put the rookie and the star on the same level. It's meant to give people an idea of what kind game the kid plays and what he might become if he hits his max potential.

First off, that's a stylistic comparison- not potential. All of his "comparable players" are in style and have been since he started working at TSN. Weber's statline in his draft year was 70GP 2G 16A 167PIM to Teubert's 66GP 7G 16A 135PIM. Tell me those don't at least look similar.

Secondly, that was after the 2007-08 season where Shea Weber posted a stat line of 54GP 6G 14A 49PIM. Not really the perennial Norris candidate numbers he's put up since then.

By no means am I a fan of Button's and I often disagree with him as he is- as you said- a tad over-optimistic, but he gets a LOT more flak than he deserves.

Tavares had a better year. Doesn't matter what the numbers say. Tavares had a better year.

opiniion. Hall was the second leading scorer in the much tighter and defensive Western Conference. the east held 7 of the top 10 scorers, yet the West has won the last 2 Stanely cups in very convincing fashion. Point totals in the east are skewed and difficult to compare to point totals in the West.

IMO, a PPG player in the west has had better season then a PPG player in the east.

JT is the more established player, which is why he gets more love.

There is also the idea that Tavares is one of the few stars the Islanders have had since the glory days of the early 80s
