Interesting to see that McCarron isn't in your top 5, though understandable...

I trust Timmins so I'm not going to bash the pick, but I don't really understand it.

Just doesn't seem like he has that much offensive upside... I'm really hoping he surprises us.

Glad to hear it. As I said I know close to nothing about him.

Really happy with how the last 2 drafts went for the Habs. Add to that Gallagher and Galchenyuk and it's looking good for Montreal.

it's a solid top 5, considering we have a 19-year-old and a 20-year-old already making significant NHL contributions.

having a lot of picks the last 2 years, especially the #3 last year, has really started to re-shape Montreal's long-term outlook. what's been nice about the quantity of picks they've made is that they've really given themselves some room for error on some these picks. i'm a big fan of accumulating picks in the second and third rounds, and i hope that MB continues to hang onto all his picks, and move out the guys getting up there in age for more picks.

the team as currently constructed is a one-and-done playoff shot at best so i'm all for continuing to build for the long term.

exact same thing was said about Max Pacioretty, so you never know how a guy like that will develop.

Questionable upside atm, his year in London will shed some light on if he can be more than a third liner who loves to stand in front of the net on the PP and crush players...which considering the Habs needs is what they really want in a hurry.

Looked decent in that video. Didn't know (or remember) that he is righthanded.

Well it's a very small sample, only a couple of plays, but he moved pretty well. Hang on, I'll post the link.

i think even if he ends up as nothing more than that, it will have been an OK pick. it's not like the guy was drafted 11th overall.

Pacioretty was one of the top USHL scorers in his draft year. McCarron not so much.

Pacioretty has been scoring at a PPG pace at pretty much all levels though. McCarron is at roughly half that.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens... Guess if he ends up being a tough third liner who can put up 15-20 goals it'll be a good pick.

i could be mistaken on him then. just recall hearing his offensive upside questioned and he was drafted in roughly the same spot. it's not to say that i expect McCarron to be come a 30-goal scorer or anything. i think 20 would be a pretty big success, if he can hit that.

I agree. 20 goals from him would be very nice. How many seasons you figure that'll take - 5 or 6?

Perhaps the worst first round pick in the last decade and a half.

Hmm. Maybe if I made funny comments like "Look at me, look at me" and "STFU" or that sort of thing, you'd find it funny.
