Umby smelled blood in the water.

EDIT: Saw Richie again one other time & he was cool. Must've been rankled by someone before we got there because a friend of ours was there prior to M4 & me and said he was cool.

Guys, I know I'll catch eye rolls and flack for this, but I'll never forgive him for that. You have GOT to bury that puck.

People haven't gotten off Buckner's back.....

Jesus H Keyyyriste Carter you have to have that.

Oooooo Shark Week.
The Zebra shark is one of my avatars. Bizarre I know.
And I might check it out.

I've been a bit busy. I had to put my 13 yr old male shepherd down last thurs. That dog was one of the bright stars in my life. I miss him tremendously... But I miss him healthy - climbing on windowsills, wrestling with me, and being an 85lb lap dog versus where he was. Sad part is one of the greyhounds is sick as well so we might have to do the same thing again soon.
I'm too emotionally fragile to hang with you guys too long during offseaon. But I could use the season to start up again so I have something to help distract me.

- FlyersGrace

I'm very sorry to hear that, I have a 5 year old female shepherd who I love very much and I know how hard it is to go through what you are going through now. Hang in there!

David Steckel signing with the Nashville Predators would be exciting Hockey News to me at this point. What a long, boring summer. So many decent players need contracts right now, so let's go!!

You have this missed chance by Carter and the famous save on Carter by Marc-Andre Fleury. Jeff Carter is a good player but not as dynamic a player as Roenick, Primeau, Forsberg, Briere or Giroux in the playoffs. He wasn't even as dynamic as Gagne in the playoffs. At least not here in Philly.

Speaking of Gagne I think he's underrated a playoff performed as a Flyer. So many feel the Richards hit on David Krejci was the turning point in the great comeback but Gagne scored the OT winner in his return from injury the next game. Laviolette even kept him off the icein OT and once Laviolette finally used him, boom! OT winner! Then we all remember the Game 7 winner and what Gagne was able to do again Tampa Bay.

Homer, would you find away to sign this guy already!!

The artificially lowered cap is the cause. It ain't just the Flyers, nobody is doing business right now. There's 20 teams with less than $5mm in cap room. Teams with space are waiting to see if they can land better players on the cheap rather than spending money on FAs.

Another factor is, a guy coming into camp without a deal may well sign for less money in September than in August.

I have recounted my experience with Carter at the 2007-08 STH "Meet the Players" Night. He was very cordial to both my older son and me (this was before I met my wife). Mike Richards was actually a little gruff the evening I went.

My wife and her mom have been STH's for years. Only Kyle Calder was ever rude, they said.

I went to this in either 09/10 or 10/11. Richards was sharing a table with Kalinski. Kalinski just sat at the table waiting for Richards, who was about 20 minutes late. Clement, Coatsey, and Jackson actually walked through his line to sign for people while they waited. Richards finally just walks up, kinda just smiling and laughing, and was just kind of, "Hey, thanks," to everyone. Kinda seemed like a wiener. I've heard similar stories from people, even when he's dealing with kids.

Agreed. I think this is the more likely reason Gagne remains unsigned. While he may be willing to take less to stay in Philly, I doubt any team has made him an offer at this point that's any greater than 1 million or so per year or more than a 2 year deal.

Helluva play by Campbell to get his stick on the shot to deflect it. Carter needed to bury that.
