I think a lot of people romanticise the idea of Sami Kappenen. He was brought here to be a scoring line winger, and lost his scoring touch. Through his work effort and heart, he remained an important contributer to the club. The guy gave it his all, and I respect him for that. If im looking for a role player/PKer/energy guy, Kap has a spot. If im choosing the BPA, im taking Carter.

Bottom line is that Carter was a good but not great player who got a bad rap based on false assumptions.

He did come up small in the playoffs, but you cant accuse him of that without taking in to consideration the serious injuries he played through. You cant say he had no heart (see previous facts) You cant say he was a lazy guy since he routinely won the Flyers fitness challenges that happened at the beginning of training camp. He was always in top shape.

Bottom line was that he was a good two way player who played in ALL situations and was good in ALL situations.

People didn't like his style and yes he was streaky and sometimes inconsistent. As all young players are prone to be.

But to say he stunk in the playoffs (he did) without putting it in context are just showcasing an agenda which sounds just like WIP. IE ignorant sheep comments from people who know nothing about the game.

Meh. He was often a Tin Man. Put Richie's drive and passion in Carter and that's almost another Lindros dominating out there.

Can't believe Brashear and Leino aren't killing it.
