I agree with the Richards bit. Unfortunately (or fortunately from strictly an age stand point) I wasnt around for MacLeish.


One of Carters skills was also a big reason people hated on him. He is an extremely gifted skater. He doesnt take Ovechkin strides where ice is flying everywhere, or Richard where it looks dogged and he is fighting through anyway.. Carter is amazingly fluid. It looks like he isnt working. On the negative side, Carter never really used his skating ability, stride, size, etc. as a weapon to crash the net with the puck. I dont know if it is because he lacks top end puck handling skills, but he rarely would use his speed, burn past a d-man and head towards the net. Instead he would beat the defense and then the goalie with a wicked shot. I think people wanted him to dirty his game up a bit... and thats where he lost a bit of the fan base.

I think people talk so much about the things he doesn't do. The guy scored 343 goals as a Flyer. Not ALL of them were wrist shots.

Enough guys... we can all admit it's a little hypocritical of the old timers to insult people then complain when they respond. However, lets all get back to hockey and keep the insults out of it.

It's typical of hockeybuzz. The reason most people left wasn't because of new posters, it was because of the treatment moderators defending those old timers regardless of what they did or said.
