He still has that over 40 league to fall back on
- special_k1074

He can be the back-up on my men's league team. He has to bring the beer though.

Interestingly, Brian Boucher beat out Rick DiPietro for a goaltending gig with EV Zug of the Swiss Elite League.

Doesn't sound good for that bet of yours X.

The bet was for the NHL and he has to see ice time contrary to what X thinks. Hopefully dee didn't delete that thread so we can back tread for proof! Don't even try it X!.

I could see him getting a 2-way somewhere as a reclamation project, but I don't find it likely that he'll ever see NHL ice again.

Don't see it happening. He can't be at the top of most teams unsigned FA goalies list. Even if every starting goalie goes down in the league, I still think there are better alternatives.

I dunno...as many farm teams as there are, I don't think it's beyond reason to expect SOMEONE might take a chance and give him a two way one-year contract to see if he can make it through a season.

That said, when Brian Boucher beats you out for a position, it pretty much signals the end.

He was having a hard time in a German league during the lockout. Germany doesn't exactly tear it up in international play.

Oh, I don't doubt for a second that he's done as an NHL goalie, but it wouldn't shock me if a team paid him the league min on a 2-way to see if 'they' could work is issues out. They'd quickly find out that it's impossible, but it wouldn't stop someone from trying.

True it's been done in every sport. Look at Tebow in New England. It will be interesting to see if he gets any invites to camp. That will probably tell us a lot.

WoW...

"The New Jersey Devils are likely to be taken over by the National Hockey League around the time the season begins next month when teams begin cutting payroll checks unless a buyer for the team quickly steps up, according to multiple sources.

Neither the NHL or the Devils would comment on the situation." Forbes

I can't imagine the league wants to do this again, and especially for as long as they did with Phoenix. There are some rumored potential buyers, I'm willing to bet a sweetheart deal gets done before too long. Someone's going to get that team on the cheap. If Wang did have any intention of selling, which I don't think he does, this certainly won't make it easier.

Here comes Jim Balsille, looking to move a team to Hamilton. I wonder if Devs fans will have to go through all the nonsense that us Isles fans heard from other teams' fans about the Isles moving to KC, Seattle, Quebec, Guam, Indonesia, etc. until they signed the lease in Bklyn? I doubt they will...

Just like we said to them, the Devils would say as well.... The league is not going to move a multiple Cup winning franchise.
