You are 100% right about the difference between playing in the O instead of the show, but when Bobby Orr wants to be the kids agent, and Crosby is already talking about how he's better than he was at his age... It's definitely ok to get excited as a Hockey fan for the next generation of greatness...injury pending
- sudburyboy

yeah i can definitely agree with getting in on the excitement of it all, by all means i'm sure he'll be a great player! I'm just cautious these days.

Yes hall was better this year so what the hell were you smoking
- Oilers42

Definitely wasn't better than Tavares at hockey that's for sure. Tavares single handedly carried his team to the playoffs. If he was playing with Eberle he would have doubled Hall in points lollll.

PS: Why wasn't Hall nominated for MVP btw? Tavares was.

Can you just imagine how good he would be if he was American?

i think these days no matter how dominant you are in juniors, one should never assume because once you understand the difference in playing vs 220lbs+, 6'4+ Dmen who can skate and have their own significant skill it no longer simply comes down to skill even if your skill level is incredible

it has become pretty impossible to predict who will become a superstar (or if your success will for sure translate at the pro level), nevermind the likes of Crosby or Gretzky, until we ACTUALLY see them in the league

- sojiro9

not trying to disagree at all... but isn't it interesting that there is so much interest in this kid, who's arguably playing in the toughest/best junior league on the planet yet there was shock and surprise because Seth Jones was not selected first overall?

Some other players who generated similar interest well before they were eligible to be drafted were:

Bobby Orr
Denis Potvin
Wayne Gretzky (there was so much hype, he was signed in the WHA at age 17!)
Mario Lemieux

If this kid is anywhere near any of the above, some team is going to be VERY happy!

Lollll coool story. Difference is, if Tavares is an Oiler, you're a playoff team, but he isn't and you're not. Not a fan anywhere outside of Edmonton says "i'd rather have Hall" and thats a fact. You'll see with the defining roles on the Olympic team, just how close Tavares is to being the best in the world. He's among the best, Halls not even close, at least at this point.

Let's see what happens after this season.

And no... The Oilers would not have been a playoff team this season with Tavares. Hall had a better season.
