You can't compare Hall and Taveres, one plays centre, the other plays wing. It's like comparing Mike Bossy to Bryan Trottier, Steve Yzerman to Brett Hull. Both are great players, both are getting better, both you can build a team around, so in that sense they're in the same class. But who's better? I alway go with the centre. That said, Hall likely has a lot of hardware in his future. - mykokes

You're right... rumor has it that the Board of Governors are considering disbanding all Stats tracking. Of course this means thousands of Statistician lay-offs.
The NHLPA and Player Agents are ecstatic that all future Contract negotiations will be based upon un-biased, totally subjective descriptions of their clients worth.

Go... Survey fans throughout the league.
Let's see what Hall does this year if Eberle and RNH are healthy instead of injured.
Andddddddd...
PPG per year:
Hall 1st season: 0.65
Tavares 1st season: 0.65
Hall 2nd season: 0.86
Tavares 2nd season: 0.85
Hall 3rd season: 1.11
Tavares 3rd season: 0.99
Hall 4th season: ??
Tavares 4th season: 0.98
All while having a better plus/minus on a sh1ttier team. - laughs2907
Tavares brought his team into the playoffs... getting 5 points in 6 games.. at least giving Pitts more of a challenge then people thought would happen. Im having a tough time finding Hall on the playoff scoring list.....
Hall is good.. but come on |

Statistics can be clouded by the contributions of teammates that inflate the production of ones game. In the assessment that "Hall had a better season" because he had 2 more points and 12 less goals is extremely biased and hilarious. You Oiler fans are down right embarrassing to be comparing Hall to Tavares lmaoooo. Now, look at the goal column, then watch an Islanders game, and their record when Tavares gets a point, then realize how much more crucial he is to his team then Taylor Hall. Tavares carries teams on his back, Hall has yet to prove he's in the elite echelon of the league. Now, compare Hall to Duchene and be a little more realistic. Even then, Duchene is better. |

Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but explain how you use the method of 'actual hockey knowledge' to incontrovertibly demonstrate that Hall isn't in the same league as Tavares. Of what does 'actual hockey knowledge' consist? |

I hate to disagree with my brethren here, again, Taveres is the type of centre I build a team around, but hall is the type of winger you can win a cup with. He reminds me in every way of young Messier, just not a centre. Again, its relative...if I'm starting a team I want JT (since I build up the middle), but Hall is an elite winger, and he's still just a kid. (I know so is JT). Both teams are lucky to have them.
Again this is a dumb debate, both are great players, among the best at each of their positions. |
