But the travesty of the shared Sixers/Devils ownership deal would mean that a portion of the $0.50 I pay for a 76ers ticket on stubhub will help the NJ Devils swipe free agents from the Flyers.
Think about it-- 19,000 tickets @ 0.50 each for 41 home games means that the Devils will get a smooth $389,500 to use to directly compete against Mr. Snider's Flyers.
The horror! - Moose_15
maybe theyll move the sixers and spare us.... |

The Sixers? Are they the Philly indoor soccer team? |

I don't think you guys are taking this seriously. $389,500 is the difference between signing a Jody Hull and a Jody Shelley.

That entire league is a mess. Can you imagine if the Flyers purposefully decided to not actively pursue a coach, unload the captain and payroll, tank an entire season, in the hopes of getting a ping-pong ball that allows them to draft a 18-year old.
That the 76ers are not the only team purposefully "tanking" this season is a nightmare scenario for the league. |

It has to suck to play for the Devils. Nothing about the area, the fans, or the arena appeal to me.
Who the hell would want to play in Newark? - Flyersgod
I love making fun of the Devils (because it's pretty easy), but I can take the other side of this.
1.) You get to play in an organization that is always in the hunt for a Stanley Cup.
2.) While the arena is in Newark, there are very nice places to live in North Jersey with good schools, as well as close proximity to New York City if you want some night life.
That's all I got and that's from a guy who think the Devils franchise should be moved to Canada or Seattle. |

The Sixers will probably in competition for the #1 pick in next year's NBA draft. They traded their best player (Jrue Holiday) and will likely be terrible, but the thing in the NBA is, you have to hit rock bottom before you can be any good in that league.

The NBA might be the only league where it is just as important to watch the "race to the bottom" as it is to watch the jockeying for playoff position. |

I like the sport of basketball very much.
I dislike the NBA for the very reason you state. The league is pretty much rigged. |

Not me. That was the last year Gary Gygax worked at TSR. RPG's haven't been the same since.

ohhhh, and it's eight to threeeeee.
speaking of 1985, someone gave me a copy of SPIN magazine today from November, 1993 (Smashing Pumpkins on the cover), and it contains a list of the Top 100 Movies of the SPIN era. The Sure Thing is #10. ( Evil Dead 2 was #1). |

The magazine knows it's movies.
Edit: the one scene that always catches my eye in The Sure Thing is the one where Cusack is walking through the dorm and the guys are playing hallway hockey and there's a player in an orange shirt wearing an 88 on the back.
Just freaky... |
