I still can't watch the OT highlights. When Kane (sorta? what?) scored, the place went dead silent. Never in my life have I been in a quieter hockey arena, and I've been to a game in Columbus.
I actually kinda feel bad for Chicago fans on that one. They didn't have their big moment, because no one besides Kane knew what happened. There was a Hawks fan a few rows in front of me who kinda half stood up, and wasn't sure what to do. Like, he had no idea if they had won or not. - jmatchett383
I was at the game and left the arena when I saw Kane celebrating. I didn't watch the Cup ceremony, either. |

Brind'Amour's winning the Selke in Carolina was analagous to Scott Rolen making the All-Star team in St. Louis.
Both of them should have had more league wide recognition when they were in Philly. - johndewar
Brind'Amour played in Lindros' shadow as would anyone else, True hockey fans saw his talent and importance. |

BTW I put 100$ on the Flyers to win the cup. 40/1 odds.
Don't think they will, but they're in a much better position this year than last year.
Once we trade for Weber, the odds will go down... so I had to get it in ASAP. |

I was in shock. It was such a harmless play... it was like Leighton wasn't even paying attention...
Dude probably woulda been a better goalie for us if he took some Adderall or something. His side to side movements were boarder-line pathetic and we almost won a cup with him. It will always boggle my mind that we got that close with him. - Flyersgod
I'm amazed at how awesome everyone thought he was until Game 6 ended. The worm turned faster than a wight facing a 20th level cleric. |

The hockey fan in me stayed to watch hockey's Holy Grail given to the Champions. The Flyers fan in me twisted in agony. |

Somehow I doubt we are getting Weber or that if we did he is the answer. He isnt even close to Pronger status |

I couldn't believe people actually thought he was good. I know they rode him cause he was hot, and our other goalies died from injuries... but we probably coulda had Kapanen fill in for him and won us the series. |

My hand was numb for a week.

Agreed. I stayed. Might be the only time I'll ever see a Cup presentation. Booed the poop out of Bettman. Out of respect for the game, I clapped (did not cheer) for Toews with the Smythe and Cup; it's the dude's biggest accomplishment ever, no way am I gonna boo him (if it was his 2nd Cup, different story). After they started handing it off, I left. |

I think we have a better chance at Pietrangelo. I also think he winds up being better than Weber. I think we have seen the best of Weber. Pietrangelo still has upside and he is already a stud |

It's unconscionable that the NHL hasn't had the All-Star game in one of the only sports arenas in the country that wasn't built with public funds. - johndewar
I like how Bill worded that...Brind'Amour did 'earn' the All Star selection by being the team's best player, but he wasn't voted in; he was placed on the roster because the home team had to be represented in the game.

Can't say i'd be upset if that happened.
Would rather Piet over Weber anyway! |

Whats going on with Pietrangelo anyway. He still isnt signed and the Blues just extended Bouwmeester??? Shouldnt Pietrangelo be first priority? Contract talks must be going dead...... |

I honestly don't know. Its hard for me to understand how other teams allow their RFA's to get to this point. At this point the RFA has most of the leverage in the bargaining process. Signing J-bo before Piet seems like a pretty stupid thing to do unless you're exploring options to trade him.

I think Holmgren is hard on trying to deal for him as we speak. Explains why things have been so quiet and waiting to re-sign Gagne. I still think Gags has some left in the tank. Give him a full season back in Philly and watch what he does. He might even be able to work his way up to the 1st line with Giroux, it would be nice to see him play with Vinny also. |

When I got home, my son was there (he was 3 at the time and too young to take to the game) and I had to explain why Daddy's hand hurt so bad. I had to explain that Daddy wasn't very smart sometimes.
Just a magical night. |
