Brind'Amour also had a cool Nike commercial based on him while a Flyer: the Panthers goalie who turned to robbing banks with a skate.

I gotta say I'm more optimistic than last summer. I think there will be a breath of fresh air from the net outward. |

Hindsight is 20/20. Lindros when healthy was the best in the league. You cant predict that he winds up with concussion problems and when we traded Brindy for Primeau. That was under the assumption that we would have 2 big centers, which in that era was scary to face up against. Lindros then Primeau. If Stevens didnt give that cheap head shot to Lindros, That combo at least makes the finals that year. - GOA88
I think Lindros's brains were already scrambled before that hit, Stevens just finished the job. |

No. About 20 teams in the NHL have had some sort of cash grab black jersey. The Flyers are the Orange and Black, not the Very Black with some White and a splash of Orange. Also, the 90's are over. - Flyskippy
I don't miss the black jerseys at all. They were especially bad when playing against the Devils.
The Sabres ditching their awesome blue and yellow jerseys for black and red was criminal. |

I am shocked and dismayed that Nik Zherdev is not included on the team of the 2000s.

Lindros was a man on a mission that game 7. You could clearly see that the devils werent gonna win with the Big E playing that way. Thats why Stevens went head hunting. |

Is it just me or does anyone else miss those black flyers jerseys? I would like to see at least an alternate jersey made up... - GOA88
I miss the WHITE Jersey on Bill's Blog. While virtual, 2000 line ups are fine, I miss actual real live NHL Hockey. |

Perhaps one final poll for the 'Team of the 2000s: Waiver Wiree" featuring him and Randy Jones? |

good blog
and thanks for doing the team of 2000s thing. it was fun.
curious though: how do you keep up with all the birthdays? - Crimsoninja
Every morning, I peruse the "Today in Flyers History" section of Flyershistory.com, which includes sections on all players' birthdays and all roster transactions that have occurred on that particular calendar date.

I have to agree. I think the 5 on 5 offense is going to be much better. You have Mason and Emery who are both good puck movers, setting the puck up, or getting it to our defenders who will then be in a better postion to move up the ice. We also have Streit who will aid in outlet passes and carrying the puck out of our zone. I think what you will see is less goals 5-on-5. Not because the goal tending is any better, but because of less pressure on defense. The Power-play will be as good, though the PK might suffer a bit.
I'm actually starting to get excited talking about it again. |

Nikolai "Did I beat my wife or not?" Zherdev
Randy Nose
Jason "Yes, I did beat my wife" Smith's separated shoulders
Jaroslav Modry...well, yeah, Jaroslav Modry
Alexei poopnik
Randy "Sorry I'm not Luc" Robitaille |

Agreed. I stayed. Might be the only time I'll ever see a Cup presentation. Booed the poop out of Bettman. Out of respect for the game, I clapped (did not cheer) for Toews with the Smythe and Cup; it's the dude's biggest accomplishment ever, no way am I gonna boo him (if it was his 2nd Cup, different story). After they started handing it off, I left. - jmatchett383
I did the same exact thing. Was so numb at the time in disbelief that it was over, but you don't want to miss seeing things like that in person. Or miss out on booing Bettman.
FWIW Toews' parents were sitting two rows in front of us and were very gracious in victory, not to mention just being very nice people overall. Hard to hate on the guy one bit after meeting them. |

I have no ill will towards Toews. Basically, he's the new Iginla minus the fighting Hatcher part. |
