without carle, they don't even make the playoffs. he scored the game tying goal against CSP in the final game that got them to the shootout. - hammarby31
What you REALLY MEAN is that, if they don't have Carle and all of his horriffic turnovers, they don't need to win that game to get in. It's okay, you can admit it. |

Good lineup Bill, however my money would be on my 80s team if the 2 could ever meet:
GOAL
1. Pelle Lindbergh
2. Ron Hextall
D Pairings
Howe-McCrimmon
Wells-Samuelsson
Marsh-Murphy
Forward Lines
Propp-Poulin-Kerr
Barber-Clarke-Tocchet
Craven-Sutter-Sinisalo
Eklund-Linseman-Holmgren
Either way it sure be a fun game to watch!
- BiggE
love this line-up
- hammarby31
I'll take the 90's team.
LeClair-Lindros-Renberg
ProppBrind'Amour-Kerr
Eklund-Tocchet-Recchi
Podein-Otto-Klatt
Howe-Desjardins
Deuchenes-Samuelsson
Yushkevich-Therien
Hextall

I don't like to besmirch the name of Mark Howe, but the 1990's version of Mark Howe couldn't carry the skates of 1980's Mark Howe.....mostly because 1990's Mark Howe had a debilitating back problem.
I think Bill would even agree with that one.

A year ago I acknowledged I had made myself disabled and I was in control of reversing that. Size 26 to Size 18 jeans so far. I actually enjoy the new lifestyle. Love swimming, enjoy the gym, and eating thoughtfully doesn't mean you can't enjoy your meals. |

Yeah Cloutier with his asinine assessment of the Flyers organization and the fans. He's totally clueless. And he's such a homer it's almost unbelievable... he put the Oilers #1 as the most interesting team in the league. Gimme a break. And Calgary was #2 haha, over the likes of Toronto, Dallas (who I think is very interesting), Vancouver, us, Pittsburgh, Detroit, etc.
And then there was the Canes blogger (don't know his name) who went trolling for hits the other day by ripping the Flyers to shreds. I mean the Hurricanes and Oilers writers are acting superior after we have one bad season. We're not the Golden Seals. And both those clubs were worse than the Flyers anyway. What's going on? |

The Canes writer one was especially funny because the day before we were all having a conversation how the Flyers get the most hits to this site out of any US team. Unfortunately there cannot be 30 Metzlers for 30 teams that you know, write hockey. |

The 1990's version of Howe was still pretty effective when healthy. Bill's mentioned a few times that Howe remained the Flyers best and most effective defenseman, despite the back limiting the number of games and his effectiveness.

I wish EA Sports would come out with an NHL game that puts each team around the league's all time best players on the team where they were most known for and at their best but also cannot use a certain player twice. Example Rick Toccket cannot be on both the Flyers and Penguins, just one. Also in doing this have facts about each team and some of the players. There would also be little reason to add all 3O teams. Just the ones with the most wealth of history and talent. |
|
|
|
Hopefully the Flyers have a blueprint for the entire season including transactions for players at the end of their contracts. Dan Boyle remains a horse on the back end even at the age of 37. I think all eyes should be on how well the Sharks play and Boyle In particular. I have no doubt the asking price won't be cheap but I couldn't be more sick of waiting for a Cup. |

Why do you hope that? They'll just disgustingly underrate all of the Flyers players while simultaneously skyrocketing Vancouver players' ratings (the game is made in Vancouver). Example, at the end of the season overall updates this year, after Voracek put up just shy of a point per game, and over the past 82 games proved he is one of the premier RWers in the league:
Ilya Kovalchuk- 82 games- 31 goals- 43 assists- 74 points
Patrick Kane- 82 games- 35 goals- 46 assists- 81 points
Marian Gaborik- 82 games- 26 goals- 29 assists- 55 points
Jakub Voracek- 82 games- 33 goals- 41 assists- 74 points
They decided in their infinite wisdom to make him an 82 overall. Then, in their further wisdom, they decided Cory Schneider had the season of his career, and he deserved to be bumped up from an 82 (I think?) up to an 87, and that Luongo had a fantastic season and deserved to remain an 89. The Vancouver bias is subtle yet obvious when you notice it, and it makes me more angry then it probably should |

I sort of dislike acquiring at the deadline, always seems to do nothing but wreck line chemistry. |

I just thought it would be cool to play a hockey game where I could play as Lindros and LeClair again. Or even Clarke and Barber for the first time.
I do agree that some players might get overrated. I would be okay with current players on these teams if deserving. It would be interesting to see love you, Crosby and Jagr on one team.
Understand? Rating wouldn't be as important as the names already in the history books or headed there. |

Ya, I understand that. It is a little insulting that they have Crosby (and Lemiuex) rated higher than Gretzky in the game, though. |
