You have no evidence that Luongo is pissed about not being traded. He has not said as such. Sedins took discounts to play together, you really think they can find another team that will be able to afford them both? ya you're such a genius
- annoyance_101

the Sedin's took minimal discounts. remember they took those contracts before their 100 points/art ross/cup drive/hart stuff.

So you think a team is willing to take them on, TOGETHER? thats at LEAST 13 mill added to a 64 mill salary cap...they won't sign with another team for the same reason they wont be traded as a package for another team...thats too much salary for another contending team to pay

Well let's say if you're sending out 12.2 in cap hit, the acquiring team will probably want to send 4m back in cap hit.

Looking at the cap charts, the islanders and senators could afford the Sedins with no problem. The Devils, if they made some moves early, might be able to clear space and could be competetive with the Sedins. Washington and Phoenix could probably dump Erat and Ward, and Vermette respectively if their lives depended on it.

Their careers began with a GM making a mad shuffle to keep them together, I wouldn't be surprised IF the canucks are out of the playoff hunt for some reason to see a mad shuffle to acquire them both for a roster player or two and a load of picks and prospects.

the conversation started with a team signing them in the off season though...not through trade...i agree a trade is more likely...but at the same time...those teams you mentioned have their future to think about...washington has ovi, backstrom, and green...so you think that they should add the sedins as 2nd line players? IF they were traded i can take an educated guess as to them not playing together...and teams arent likely to trade what it would take if they are not together...they have said they want to stay together...the ONLY team i agree with is New Jersey, being how boned they are...and I would LOVE canucks to acquire the devils 2015 1st at the deadline of 2014...that would be amazing...so if i wanted to do that...I would re-sign them for a year and trade them at the deadline...take a crack at getting McDavid

Well I was thinking that a team would be interested in acquiring them for the playoff run and then seeing where it goes from there. I suppose though in that instance they probably wouldn't be willing to give up the kinds of assets the Canucks were interested in

I figure New Jersey would be silly to acquire the Sedins anytime other than NOW. I think they could do well with a top six of
Sedin-Sedin-Jagr
Clowe-Elias-Zubrus

but if they waited they'd be dead in the water. A team that wasn't in playoff contention would be foolish to give up 1sts for the Sedins.

I'm not talking about straight up.

If I had to pitch a deal, I'd be looking at:

2014 1st + 2014 2nd+ 2 solid prospects + veteran with more than a year on his contract + veteran set to expire + 2015 1st conditional on making the finals (else 2nd) for the Sedins.

I just needed to point out that at the time of their signing the current contact theft were only just being PPG for the most part.

7M each for them was a bit of a stretch though not impossible... but to stay together required them to take less... then they have a tiny discount to get to 6.1M.

But to hear it from Canuck fans you would think they left 2M each on the table.

No one has ever said that, you're just making that up in your own mind...if a canucks fan said that the sedins left 2 mill each on the table...QUOTE IT and SOURCE IT...it should be easy enough only a dunce would think that ANYONE thought that

Dolt, I never said it was a quote. I said that if you listened to the Nuckleheads you would "Think" they left 2M. What with all the screaming about how they "took a discount"

Everytime I mention that the Sedins got a Fair Deal I am told that in no uncertain terms that they "took a discount". Which they really didn't...not enough of one to call it one...they needed to take less becasue they want to play together.

No one has ever claimed or come close to claiming that they left 2 mill on the table...not 1 fan believes that or even comes close to believing that dolt...the definition of a discount is they took less, that could be just $500K less in this case...you clearly have no idea and blew what people said up to fit whatever the hell you want you believe is right

Sorry the concept of what I was saying was too hard for you.

I have had fans tell me that the twins at the time of the signing were worth what Crosby and OV were making...being about 8M...so yeah....don't ask me to link it cause I don't go to Esplen threads...the idiocy in there is just too much.

I don't think they "took a discount". I think they got a Fair Contract. They were about 6M players which was teh going price for PPG players...which is where they were rounding into...and subsequently have come back down to.

1. the "fans" you speak of were trolling you and you didnt even know it
2. Crosby and Ovechkin make 8.7 mill and 9.538 mill respectively (that is far more than $2 mill in case you're not doing the math)
3. You don't have to believe that they took a discount even though they said they did to stay together because they understood it was a salary cap era...I would tend to believe them far far before I'd believe you.

jokes on them cause I wasn't getting upset. .. but they were. ..

And the fact that Nuck fans thought thr twins should make as much as sc and ov which is even more that the 2M discount sports what you are saying how?

Link that.
