Why would he have to significantly outplay Hall? If he outplays Hall, then he should be playing. Keep in mind, the entire starting lineup will most likely be decimated by injury within 5 minutes of the season starting, so Hall will get time if he's a healthy scratch to start the season. - jmatchett383

You only say that because of your undying love of Keith Primeau, always going on and on about how he's the greatest Flyers' captain ever, despite everyone arguing against it. - jmatchett383
It's true what you say. He was the best third line center in the league that season. No one can argue that. |

It's a valid concern. But Laughton will be the top center this year with the Generals. Hopefully he'd be fired up to prove the Flyers wrong for keeping him in the OHL - Jsaquella
Laughton for whatever reason gives me the same feel Couturier does. Defensive forwards who naturally play the middle are normally expected to stay at center for their defensive responsibilities. How effective could Laughton be on the wing, if at all. I wouldn't put him there just to do so. I believe there are more skilled players on the Generals that were able to make the world juniors, leaving Laughton to carry the load he wasn't normally familiar with. Laughton did well. Now what is wrong with him experiencing an entire season of it? I never thought Laughton would make the Flyers this season and I think the signing of Adam Hall confirms this. I believe its the correct move by the Flyers, and in the best interest of Scott Laughton not to rush him. |

Replace "Laughton" with "Couturier" and this is what people were saying 2 years ago. |

Is it sad that he'd still be the best of that group. I hear that leg is quite a shot blocker. |

Whatever point your trying to make went completely over my head. Couturier has always had a much higher offensive upside, Couturier will never see the wing and we had a serious lack of size down the middle when Couturier made the team out of camp. Different situation going into this season. I do believe that many believe the Flyers are a frontrunner for the cup once again this season. |

You can make fun if you want, but yes it does have plenty of room for groceries. Can compfortable seat 5, and blow the doors off a Camero z28 all at the same time. |

I think most people think this is a playoff team, but I don't think they're a cup contender. They don't have the defense, two-way play or goaltending of a stanley cup caliber team.
Hopefully they improve in those areas, but it would have to be a huge improvement to be a cup contender. |

I'm just saying that everyone figured Couturier would show up for camp, get some learning in, and go back to junior. Then when he made the team, everyone just expected he would get his 9-game tryout, then be sent back. I'm not saying they're the same player, or that the situation is the same. What I'm saying is to give the guy a fair shot, and if he comes in and proves that the team benefits by him playing (OH NO ELC YEAR!), then he deserves to play.
And I don't think the general hockey public views this team as a Cup Contender, let alone the frontrunner. You may have heard of the Bruins, Penguins, and BlackHawks. |

Apparently, he caught a pass for a preseason TD against the Steelers and kinda acted like he was going to do the cha cha or whatever, but decided not to (i just read it). I hate any pre-meditated touchdown celebrations, and I'd love to some 250-pound linebacker just absolutely destroy him the first time he does his little dance. |

Who were these people who thought Couturier was gonna get a nine game tryout and then be sent back? Couturier was l different case. He was a key penality killer his entire rookie season. Bryaden Schenn was expected to be a guarantee to make the roster but Schenn was often hurt the first half of the season and had contract bonuses that the club wanted to cut down on so he was sent to the minors, which left the door wide open for Couturier to stay and rightfully so. |
