There were only 48 games played this past season. Unless you're talking about 2012 calendar year?
- BlazinMike

There's this magical place they call "the juniors" in which the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL are the 3 main leagues, and rielly plays for the Moose Jaw warriors in the WHL, they played a full schedule last year. Pretty crazy, huh?

Hemsky 3 year ago could have gotten a 1st plus. Now....

I for 1 will be dancing and drinking the day he's gone. Biggest mistake Tambi ever made was that stupid 2 yr 10 mill deal when it was clear no one else was going to give him anything close to that.

- Iggysbff

Stupid Tambellini. LA wanted him for their cup run when we traded them Pancakes but Tambellini reportedly was holding out for Brayden Schenn.

Ahaha nice. So you think that the other GM's didn't know he was young? What in the world would make you think that he improved enough after his draft year to be picked in the top 10 the following year?

Hilarious, you can now be lumped in with Cloutier, probably seen the guy play 2, 3 games tops.

- SameOld

you don't think a year makes a big difference for a teenager? it is simply that at the time of his draft Klefbom was less projectable than had he been drafted one year later. Hence, he was believed to be not top 10 worthy. however, one year later, GMs would have seen him captain his Swedish Juniors to gold. he was much more projectable, and IMO (you are right, I only saw him play at the World Juniors in Edmonton, live mind you), he would have been picked higher than 20th.

Oilers organization is already making noises that Hall will play center for Nuge if he isn't ready to go, but I've also heard Nuge has made great progress physically and he should be in the line-up for the 1st game of the regular season.

If Hemsky is still around and Nuge is out, you could see Hemsky-Hall-Eberle and Perron-Gagner-Yakupov as your top two lines. Jones-Gordon-Joensuu and Smyth-Lander-Eager would make up the rest of the lines, which is almost a catastrophic mix. Jones and Joensuu are 4th line players, Smyth needs to retire and Eager can't decide from one game to the next if he belongs in hockey.

I seem to remember you saying the same thing about Hall moving to the middle around this time last year and I don't think that ever happened, even though he was pretty good on the dot. I heard Nuge was moving along well also, so I'm hoping he's ready Oct. 1.

I just hope Jonesy can be an example for Eager and they go bust heads all season together with Gordon.

That fourth line though... Jebus save us

I think Arcobello will get the 2C role over Lander. He's just not fast enough for that role.

Neither is a good option imo

guys, can we not tone down this whole Klefbom vrs Nurse thing? they are, afterall, both going to be integral players on our team.

We have a pretty good idea that Klefbom is going to be a very solid NHL D. Right now, Nurse is a raw talent with loads of potential. if he ends up being the better of the two, super.

LOL as if Klefbom dominated the world juniors. Brodin looked a lot better on that pairing. Sorry.

Smytty had better have a good year on that 4th line. He didn't deserve that 2 year contract by any means. We didn't owe him anything. He doesn't belong in the league anymore. Everytime I see him he's the slowest player on the ice and takes stupid penalties trying to play defensively because of it.

No definitely not. If either of them gets the job they will be in way over their head. Arcobello did look decent centering Hall in limited time in OKC last year though.

Such blind Oiler hatred. Guess who was on the Allstar team out of the two and had all the scouts swooning over him?

Tell us more about Joensuu. What do you know about him that caps him off as a 4th liner? Everything I read says he is an upgrade from Harti, but maybe u could elaborate? Or would that require actual research on the player? I guess that would be too much like journalism.

Clout's never heard of the guy till the Oil got him a couple months ago so not much point in asking him.

Joensuu is actually pretty good. I've seen him play enough with the Islanders being in the Flyers division.

Had he begun his NHL career in a different organization, he'd probably be a much more established and polished player at this point. NYI, like a lot of their players, mishandled him at first.

He played pretty well in his most recent stint, and I didn't think he was half bad his first go around with the team. He may never be a top six guy at this point, but the kid knows how to play.

You notice when he's on the ice.
