I don't think he'll go to the KHL for a few extra hundred grand, or extra years. I think he'll sign at the number they're offering because he has no choice. His biggest mistake was hiring an agent because he basically just gave away 3-5% for nothing.

Agreed. If I were him, I'd take the cheap one year offer and have a good season this year to land a better bridge contract next summer.

Had nothing to do with Fluery letting in shots from center?

No, Vokoun was Pittsburgh's starter for that series.

The Sedins made him look so bad in the playoffs a few year back. His absence hurt us this year. But I suppose in a smaller role, he could be effective. I've just never been very impressed with him.

He wouldn't be anything more than a 5/6 D-man here. I'd rather have Tanev as Murray's mobility would worry me, but he'd be an upgrade over most other options if we can't get Tanev signed. I think Tanev'll suck it up and sign in the next few weeks though.

better off resigning alberts IMO. Murray was horrible for the Pens in the playoffs.

not so much winning as filling a hole that Vancouver has on D.

Their issue in the past few years has been size on the back end and getting pushed around. Murray helps with that and the hits and shot blocks generally come with a player that does both those things.

- IanEsplen

I've been saying this for a while now. We need a shot blocking, net clearing defencemen. Everybody just wants scoring instead though.

Alberts has the same mobility issues as Murray. He doesn't play as mean or block as many shots though. I'd be happy with Alberts as the 7/8 D though if we could sign Tanev.

If Murray is willing to play for somewhere in the 1 million range he's a welcome addition, in my opinion.

If he was available for $1m I'm almost positive he'd have been picked up by now. Half the league would have some interest of in him at that price. It's more likely he and his camp are holding out for something much closer to his previous $2.5m and will continue the hold-out until training camp should it be required.

I'd rather sign Mueller. If Corrado is making this team and Tanev will get signed then I'd definitely prefer Mueller(can play wing/center, decent player, shootout specialist, not a small guy either).
- Nucker101

Agreed. Mueller or Boyes if they can be had for close to the same as their previous contracts. Brunner would be the best choice out there for the Kesler line IMO. I'd definitely offer him $3m per for a few seasons.

That's because this team can't score. How many playoff examples would you like? When a team can't score you naturally want to look for ways to improve scoring.

If you think hitting and shot blocking wins hockey games then don't even bother about getting a cup, feel free to drink directly from the Tortorella kool-aid barrel.

Big assumption there. He could be waiting for the right opportunity. He could want a multi year deal. He could want to be in a specific region. He could want to play for a winner. Lots of things motivate players in Murray's position more than money.

As the market has become clearer, it has been made abundantly clear that 5/6 D-men are making far less this year than in previous years. Tanev's learning it. Murray's likely learned it too.

even if you can sign Boyes at 1mil or less, you're gonna be disappointed. I was.

We can't afford Brunner. Mueller or Boyes would be solid additions, but it doesn't sound like the Canucks are interested at the moment. I could see them going after Mueller if Gaunce doesn't look close to being ready at training camp and Mueller's still unsigned. His agent could get a quick call from Gillis at that point!

Who is Selena Gomez, Scott's sister?

Does Douglas Murray have as good a chance of winning the Norris next season as a Canuck as J. Schultz does for the Oil?
