I like how everyone is assuming that Gagne is 100% to sign here. - jmatchett383
The fact he hasn't signed elsewhere yet indicates Gagne and the Flyers have a handshake deal one would imagine.

i don't assume that. i'd like him to return, but my gut says he ends up being a 1-2 year rental player to a variety of teams for the next 5 years. i sure hope not. - hammarby31
Its sad to see how the cap implications have pushed some of the savvy older vets, and "good team guys" out of the league earlier than before. |

Im done, one thing I have learned on this site is that not one single person is wrong. Nobody will admit it even if they were. Too much pride and opinions are like bumholes, everyone has one. - GOA88

yeah...and?
Dude, give it up, you are all over the place and I don't even think you understand what it is you are trying to prove.
Bottom line:
Giroux is a dynamic offensive player who plays hard. No one denies this.
He is an excellent penalty killer because of his anticipation, competitiveness and mobility.
He is average to below average defensively on 5 on 5 because he tends to drift around his zone, tends to lose his man coming in to the slot, makes low % passes trying to exit the zone too often, and has a tendency to leave the zone before the team has possession of the puck. Most of this will be improved as he learns to consistently apply himself in all three zones.
NONE OF THIS is debatable.
However, he is not, and never will be, a top ten defensive player.
He can be a top ten or even top five 2 way player in this league. However, I don't think he is there yet. He needs to be more consistent defensively before that happens.
He makes these lists you love to point out because he is so dynamic offensively, is good in the dot, is good on the PP, and PK. If he improves defensively he will right there in the convo for best player in the league.
Stop making claims and then linking to stuff that doesn't even touch on the same subject, then say say you mistyped or that not what I meant....we will just end up wasting an entire day.

50/50 chance, I think he would like to stay but can the Flyers fit him in capwise?

That's kind of my point. Those 30+ veteran depth guys are the ones suffering from this new CBA. |

yup this lowered cap is hurting players that would have been signed already for sure |

it's just one of many reasons i loathe the cap. it's turned the game into something it shouldn't be. |

At least it stopped the big spenders like Philadelphia, New York, and Toronto from winning the Cup every year and opened the door for team like Tampa Bay, Dallas, and NJ to be competitive. |

Thats exactly what I never understood. Usually caps are put in place to make teams competitive, or prevent teams from just buying championships.. that was never a problem in the NHL. |
