Mackinnon, Duchene, Landeskog, Johnson & Varlamov
Surely not top 5 but would say in between 10-15 for sure. - koarik91

Wouldn't have Edler nor Bieksa in my top 5 Canucks. I'd put Burrows or Hansen - JameyVinnick
Oh how the mighty have fallen if Hansen is a top 5 player on your team. Burrows is a solid argument though. |

That is actually a pretty good and thoughtful blog.
After doing the bottom 15, you might want to review the top 6 (starters) on each team, noting the strength and weaknesses. It might be a good indication of likely team performance.
So, for example a team like the Flyers might drop to the bottom third if they had to include Dmen and a goalie. A team like the Rangers should move up because of their overall representation. |

Nice post Clouts.
Is this an analysis on who's top five is the most productive or the most valuable to the team. There other intangibles we could add such as leadership and defensive responsibilty. |

I think it's an analysis of who the top 5 players are on each team. Try not to over-analyze the analysis made in a silly team analysis blog |

Actually decent blog Clouts.
For the caps, instead of johansson, you should include holtby. Holtby is quietly becoming an elite goalie who steps up in big games imo.
For the ducks, drop a goalie and include beachimen. He was i think top 5 in norris voting last year. Sure he probs wont do that again, but hes still a solid dman. |

Edmontons top 5 of Shultz, yakupov, hall, eberle, rnh average age is only 21.4 that's crazy. - Snagglepuss
Would you put Schultz ahead of Petry att his point? I wouldnt. Petry is a pretty underrated dman and is a real complete player. |

As a canucks fan i have to say you're clearly just trolling, edler is not better than letang...and carlson are you (frank)ing kidding me? he's also btter than yandle and OEL...the only ones that may be on par with letang on that list is weber, keith, chara, and its seabrook, before saying someone else doesnt know anything about hockey you should look in the mirror, you dont even know how to spell the players name... - annoyance_101
Nah I would go with
Weber
Keith
Suter
Chara
Karlsson
Pietrangelo (after this season probs)
OEL ^see above
Yandle comes close
The bolded is my top 5 though.
Edit: I forgot Doughty, I would take him before Letang as well |

So glad you didn't put the Oilers high on this list. Kids are kids and it's nice that Richard is acknowledging that fact. They need time to become elite. Oilers fans delude themsevles into thinking all high draft picks are immediately NHL ready and elite. Example. How is Drouin from Tampa on this list. Sure he has talent but he's an 18? year old midget who's never even played an NHL game. Remember how awesome Kadri was in junior? It took him another 4 seasons before he was truly NHL ready. Drouin will need time before he is elite. And btw Nurse(who will be great and was the perfect draft pick for the Oil) shouldn't be in the NHL for at least three seasons.
Clout's once said that the Leafs could trade Franson because they have Morgan Rielly who is ready for the NHL. WRONG! Only teams who WANT to lose bring in rookies before they are ready.(see the gutless, cheating Oilers over the past three seasons) |

Yep his 5 goals this year were mighty impressive, ranking 31st in the league. He racks up point playing with two of the top 3 forwards in the world. - tomburton99
How come rest of Pens D didn't have point per game while playing with Crosby and Malkin? When Letang was out of line-up, Pens couldn't win even with Malkin and Crosby playing. |

That so? Well I'm glad you were able to glean so much information from a single comment. For your information I know plenty about hockey, it's the one played with croquet mallets right? |

We wonder the same thing.
But according to some fans with Crosby and Malkin playing, everyone on the team should be a Point Per Game player, including Fleury and Vokoun. |

Haha. Not gonna lie though, those two players make other players almost point-per-game-players... This is no knock on Kunitz, but does anyone really believe he'd put up similar numbers not playing with Sid? Crosby and Malkin are just that good. |

Oh they definitely improve whoever plays with them. One most teams though Kunitz would still be a Top 6 player. If there is this much debate over TJ Oshie, then Kunitz would have to be considered, seeing how he is what Oshie will basically turn into if he pulls it together. |

1 Elite as (frank) player, 1 really good dude, 1 kid with a bad shoulder, a 19 yr old that wasn't even a 60 goal scorer and some kid from college.

No, I have deadline tomorrow for one of the newspapers I write for. Just finished a big long story about an environmental group concerned about oil sands development. Now I am moving on to writing a piece about a provincial initiative to increase the number of female candidates in the next municipal election. - Maxbone
