Right. I never said you did. But you were saying that Vasiliev was a smart pick because he slid due to questions about leaving Russia. I guess I was asking if it was so smart, why weren't the GMs picking before Holmgren smart enough to make the choice?

Homer saw value in the pick so he made it, but there's different kinds of risks to take in the 7th round and to say one type of risk is smarter than another can be hard to justify.

There is no risk with a 7th round pick. That's the entire point.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to argue with him. At 7th round, its a low risk/high reward pick.

Wait...what the hell happened to Tim? Did he get traded from HB with Cloutier in a package deal?

considering that tim is ek's partner, i'd say he's not getting traded, although i suppose anything is possible.

Is Tim Ek's source for all of his rumors? Because that would explain a lot.

Just surprised all his stuff is gone and thought I might have missed an announcement.

I suppose he could've gotten a life.

His argument seems to be that because all 7th rounders are low probabilities to make the NHL there is no risk with this pick.

Are you sure it isn't high risk/high reward?
Wouldn't the "staying home in mother Russia" thing increase the risk of him being a failed draft pick?

And I mean, the guy projects as a low pairing defensive defenseman. Could it be considered high risk/low reward to take a defensive Russian from the KHL?
Wouldn't a low risk/high reward draft pick be something more like taking a really talented offensive player who fell in the draft due to size/injury concerns?
