Maybe Boston, Montreal, Detroit and Ottawa are ahead of us, but Toronto was because of a shortened season and Florida just sucks ass. - Artyukhin76
Toronto will imo be ahead of Florida, Montreal and Tampa in the standings. Boston I think is fading with moves and SC playoff hangover. Detroit and Ottawa will likely be the top 2 teams. |

So I said that you did mean to quote my quote and that with your quote in quoting me saying that didn't mean to quote that, I am saying you did mean to quote that quote and that you want to stalk me because I am so awesome in quoting quotes. |

We will see with Toronto. They have serious longevity issues durin a full season and it will be interesting to see if they can hold out. |

They have a lot of players that will be free agents next summer. I also like a couple of their pick-ups too - Bernier, Bolland, and Clarkson. Paul Ranger signing a one way contract was a nice move too. Even with their massive game 7 collapse, they seem to be a pretty confident bunch. I guess we will have to wait to see. |

We will see in the regular season. I like the Leafs, but a half season playoff berth does not make them an automatic playoff position contender. |

I'd be shocked if Clarkson earns every dollar of his contract. |

It does seem very doubtful but time will tell. I didn't expect Lecavalier to earn every dollar of his contract either. |

David Clarkson:
GP426 G97 A73 PTS 170 (.40 PPG)-/+ -23 and makes 5.25m per year (cap hit).
Valteri Filppula:
GP483 G100 A151 PTS 251 (.52 PPG) -/+ +43 and makes 5m per year (cap hit).
Why are SOOOOOO many people having poop fits over our signing of Filppula? |

Lecavalier's current contract with the Flyers looks like a steal. |

Because Clarkson brings 'intangibles'. |

People seem to like his physicality, attitude, etc. I'm on your side of this argument. I'd take Filppula's production at $5MM over everything Clarkson brings at $5.25MM. |

He's a good player, but I'd pass at that much. |

Clarkson had 770 PIM in 426 games (1.80 penalty minutes per game).
Filppula had 158 PIM in 483 games (.33 penalty minutes per game).
That to me says less time on the PK. |

I'd value him at around $3.5-$4MM and no more. Unfortunately free agency has nothing to do with value. |

I still maintain Lindy can become elite. As a once in a blue moon guy behind Rinne, he wasn't much. But when he got several games in a row while Rinne was hurt, he was stellar. If he loses the starting job, he may not be worth keeping. However, I truly believe he can reach Vezina territory, sometime in his career with regular playing time. |

This is my gut feeling too. Once he got more comfortable in TB, we saw what he is capable of. It's really too bad that he got injured just as his comfort level was increasing. |

You know you finished only four points ahead of us right? With half our team injured the whole season. And you had the top two scores on your team.
Just saying that doesn't say much about your team either. |

We couldn't keep the puck out of our net, but we can score. Panther can't (frank)ing do either. You were saying? We have a solid goalie tandem, a new Defense coach and new head coach. You have.... Jack squat! |

I certainly do not like Clarkson's new salary but as a neutral here I would take him over Filppula anyday. Clarkson is physical, can fight, can score on the pp and in general brings a more complete game. In Filppula's defence he may have played all last year at less than 100% of being healthy. I believe he played with a swollen knee for most of the season, an injury that nobody really talked about. The year before he was a much better player so there is hope he will turn out good in TB. |
