Great idea, but you should pay more attention to the comments that people write on this website. I think it tells a lot about the person's writing style, passion, and capabilities (debating wise).

Garth fulfills Ek's criteria for a writer to a T. He tells a story in his blogs and obviously has a passion for writing them. I just don't get this redundant hate for his blogs by some. Some blogs are as dry as the air in Arizona and Garth's are far from that. Sure, he has typos and a mistake here and there but the more you write, the more mistakes will be made.

I would echo this. Seen a handful of commenters that would thrive given their own blogs. If a person comments a lot, it's means he has time to kill on this site. I think a lot of great writers get blogs, but they just don't have the time to check in regularly.
