While we're on the topic, I'll re-post something I said before and re-tool it so hopefully it doesn't result in a ban. From a digital saavy hockey fan, this entire site is stale. Right down from the watered down posts about essentially nothing, to the 2002-ish design. You need to rebrand the site and re-invent yourself as a hockey content provider. Come up with new ways to share the interesting stuff you get from your sources. You owe it to the people that pay to access your content and to your loyal following. Leverage your talented bloggers to help you do this. - champ1315
Those people aren't owed anything except a kick in the a$$ for being so stupid to buy a season ticket |

The most important thing for any blogger to realize is the fanbase of that franchise is your meal ticket. Show them the respect that they deserve, and you will do fine. |

You mean like when Dee verbally bashed Nash after receiving a concussion that left Ranger fans completely irate... Or a few weeks ago when she decided to call an Islander fan an asshat on another account because she was butt hurt that he's been doing a better, more respectable job. - brodydog29
Pretty much think those who read my blogs took care of the Nash one quickly supported by Islanders fans who vehemently disagreed with that post. Plus, you guys have done a good job showing your displeasure on the recent blogs. That's what good about the site, as others have mentioned, the ability to comment on several teams in an easy format, That said, agree that some enhancements would be beneficial, and I am sure the team bloggers will make sure those get escalated upwards appropriately. |

That's just stupid picking writers like that. I'd like to see someone with experience write these articles because most of them are just poorly written. Only good thing about hockey buzz is the comments in which the fans can talk to each other and discuss things about our favorite teams |

I've pretty much give up on this site. The whole 'shock jock' bloggers with voice, such as Cloutier and Garth may drive hits, but it really isn't doing 'anything' for people other than leading to boatloads of trolling. I will admit to trolling Cloutier, mostly because everything he wrote was pretty much stupid (the True Blood blog should have gotten him fired).
The website needs to pick a side and stick to it. It can be a bunch of blogs from people who write what they think etc, but things don't mix well when you have REAL NEWS and TRUE BLOOD blogs. I think you need to have a thing on the top of each 'blog' that says what it is. "NEWS" "BREAKING NEWS" "OPINION" something to tag blogs so people will know if it's more of Garth slobbing on Ryan O'Reilly's knob, or people intentionally trolling with blogs that are pure and utter bullshiat (Cloutier).
But something needs to change around here. Since Aaron left, there's been pretty much zero Colorado blogs, and he was why I originally came here. His content was factual, well written, researched even. Yost is great, as is Stuart (I do follow the Lightning on the side), French is another good one. Now compare those guys blogs to Garth's rant filled misspelled, poorly researched, garbage filled blogs.
I know you need advertising hits to pay the bills, but instead of a few tards filling blogs with shock jock mentality trash to drive hits, maybe some real 'content' with some real 'bloggers' instead of a bunch of hacks and wannabe's. There is a difference between a blogger and a journalist, and I do realize a lot of people in this day and age consider themselves journalists, even if they're really not - based on the sole fact they have a computer, access to the internet, and can make a blog. However these people are not in fact journalists, pull things out of the, and I quote from one of my epic instances, "engorged end of a cows behind". There really should be some kind of standard at least, or a tag on each blog entry to let people know if they're reading something pulled out of an engorged cows behind, or something that vaguely resembles hockey news.
Quite a few people come to this site more for the forums, but you will likely find a boatload less trolling if the blogs actually contained factual, researched, well written and proofed content. Compared to the shiatfest it's turned into over the last year or so.
XOXO

We were showing our displeasure long before the Nash incident. We complained about that blog before any of your readers got wind of it. It was classless and yet came without apology from her. Meanwhile we were left holding the bag. Our 'displeasure' and voicing of such ended up resulting in several bans despite the fact that few if any contained anything 'over the line'.
Some folks are simply given more leash than others.

I just want to say that Bill hooked me to this site. I am a much more informed and intelligent fan because of him. But most of all his literary style is honestly wasted on sports. Bill is by far and away an excellent author as well as researcher.
I haven't read everyone on here but the other person I really like is Glen Miller. His blogs on the Blue Jackets are well crafted and well worth reading.
Thanks Ek for sharing some insight behind the scenes. |
