I would be hard pressed to be able to name a single player in Flyers History who has achieved more, become so beloved by the fans, or became such a big part of the Philly area community than Lappy in such a miniscule amount of time playing. I wish we had the pleasure of him for his whole career and not just a short sample, I feel almost cheated. - Pyzik
Yup. Hard not to root for a guy like Lappy. I share your sentiments, he was a player that was made to be a Flyer. |

I think what really speaks volumes is the fact that we've seen several players now stay in the organization post-retirement, that have had established careers in other cities. Hatcher in Dallas, Pronger in St. Louis/Anaheim, Lappy in LA, says a lot about the organization, the fans, and the city. |

I think Gervais is a decent depth 6/7 type d-man. I mean most teams don't have guys much better than him in that spot on their depth chart.
The problem was due to all the injuries, Gervais was exposed in the role he was asked to fill. - PLindbergh31
Exactly. Gervais is fine in a part time, low minute, depth role on the team. |

Good to know. I was wondering why they didn't pursue a minor league deal with Wellwood from the get-go. Kind of a good faith showing by them. |

How do you guys feel about McGinn I have only seen him play a few times but have read a time or two when Bill has talked about him and his path to the NHL will he be on the team or is he still a tweener? Love his game |

He could be a solid 3rd/4th line winger. He'll definitely compete for a spot this year. |

He reminds me of a younger tougher Bernier and Bernier has turned into one of my favourite Devils |

Do you think he feels he'd have a better chance of getting to the NHL on another team? I mean, the Flyers aren't exactly the deepest team when it comes to AHL call-ups, but maybe he thinks another team might put him higher on the depth chart and he wants to be moved? |

His best way of proving that he's as good as he thinks he is is by signing the deal and making it impossible not to notice him in preseason games. |

General hockey question:
I was driving in today, and I saw a truck that had something like "Under-17 Boy's Ice Hockey Team USA Gold Medal" soaped in the windows. Does anyone know what tournament this could be referring to? |

No idea? I just checked and the formal IIHF Under-17s are already over, if I'm not mistaken? |

Robert Hägg, the Flyers' second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, broke - Bill
That wording made my heart skip a beat when I read this the first time.
I fully expected it to be more like
Robert Hägg, the Flyers' second-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, broke his femur last night in a totally pointless game. Hägg will undergo a long recovery process, but is unlikely to play hockey again.
Why is my brain thinking like this? |
