yeah, maybe if it was made up of corey locke and alexandre giroux.

almost every single player in hamilton is a pro rookie or in their 2nd year as a pro. leblanc is one of the vets on the team going into his 3rd pro season. these guys matter, the prospect pool is pretty damn deep now.

also i like his comment on how murray is part of a rebuild. he's a spare tire they picked up at a garage sale because we already have a flat. don't freak out over 1.5 million.

Thrower is not on that list yet. He probably will play one more year in the WHL. Bennett is a much better prospect than him at this point.

pretty much re-iterates what i've been saying. he had a crap year, won't play pro this year probably, he isn't a bust but he still has a lot to prove.





also i've seen this idea thrown around a few times, but he's the perfect guy to convert to forward. he likes to hit, can throw 'em, has some nice offensive instincts and can play hard along the boards. he's not huge but he's about 5'11/6', 200lbs, around prust's size but he's a much smoother skater.


i like bennett more right now but they're very different in style even if thye both play an offensive game.

Not a bad idea. He's undersized more for D than for forward in this league.

You'll be happy to know that Lars Eller added about 20 lbs of muscle, Subban gained muscle mass as well and the best news of course is that Desharnais decided that the key to his NHL was to actually get smaller and lighter.

I don't know if it's really a good thing that Desharnais lost some weight. He was already quite light... (177 lbs!!!). Maybe he will gain a litttttle speed, but he'll be even easier to push away in the corners and away from the puck. I hope it won't affect his "physically-ish" play (not saying he's playing physical here, but any player have to be involved in some physical competition...).

Lars Eller is always riping up, every year we see/hear him gaining muscle, which is a good thing (our long-awaited big venter?? I HOPE!!).

Subban is probably the most shaped/muscular guy on the team. I saw pictures of him on DansLesCoulisses.com while he was training shirtless outside... and MAN, he's cut!! (Reminds me of the picture of Gordie Howe pitching hay).

I think Desharnais will have somewhat of a lesser role (or ice time) this year with Eller pushing in the back. If the CH wants Eller to become a true big top center, they will have to let him be.

I actually thought you were being sarcastic. But the fact remains that Desharnais decided it was best to lose weight in order to get faster... But at 177 lbs, if you're not already fast enough, you'll never be. Hell... I'm sure some 200 lbs players are faster than him. Dropping in weight is not the solution. Learn a new technique of skating, work your explosions the best you can. Losing some pounds, let's say 7 pounds to drop to 170 (I certainly hope it's not more than 7 lbs...) might be comparable to installing a carbon hood on your car... You won't notice much the change in acceleration/speed.

But maybe Desharnais wasn't really 177 lbs... Maybe he was only listed at 177, but gained some fat during the season, bringing him over his threshold (187-190 might be a little bit heavy for a small player at 5'6").

Bottom line, either Desharnais was getting fatty or simply he isn't making the right move by losing weight and going below 175 lbs...

I am fed up of DD getting so many opportunities when Eller is better in all facets of the game and plays less including no PP time.

If I was coach my team for day 1 assuming Gionta and Emelin injured would be:

I like it. I still like what Desharnais brought to the Habs and what he can still bring. But he is VERY "unidimensionnal". He's mostly and strickly a playmaker, seeing the players on the ice very well (PP specialist). Eller and Plekanec are more complete and maybe even talented that Desharnais. Eller and Plekanec can be used in mostly every situation. Eller's vision on the ice hasn't be proven yet, because he can't have decent icetime+PP. It'S time Eller has his chance of showing what he can do.

I like Prust and Bourque on the sides of Desharnais on the 3rd line. It's a balance of grit, playmaking and some scoring (even has potential for defensive duties).

Also about Galchenyul, Therrien said that he had a plan for Galchenyuk. I think Galchenyuk will see PP icetime this year. That would be a good way to develop his vision and skills further while the play isn't on a "rush state" (less stressed to make plays).

I can't wait to watch hockey. Very very glad that RDS will be broadcasting EVERY exhibition games!!!!!
