But I have to think an experienced and successful NHL coach is going to play his best players each game. He's not going to sit a guy out of spite or to devalue him for a contract negotiation 2 years down the road.

First it's revenue not profit
Second they don't only sell tickets, they have tons v other revenue streams from those games as well.
