oh my are you serious.... or being funny. Giroux would not have been expected to participate in the ball hockey did you ever hear of spectating, taking it all in, watching the systems they plan on implementing in February. That was the only time they were on the ice surface, there s much more going on at that camp besides the hour of ball hockey yesterday. - RobFlyers#1
I'm absolutely serious. I'm sure they can bring him up to speed sometime over the next three months. And again, if I'm the Flyers, I don't care about the Olympic camp or the elite tactical think tank going on there. I'm protecting my number one asset. |
|
|
|
Well, what do you want? He chose not to attend orientation. Okay...now what do you want the repercussions to be? Leave him off the team? Go ahead, that would make my day. - jmatchett383
Other than being in a bad light in Canada sports media there are no repercussions. |

Oh no, not that! I can't fathom if a Flyer were considered a bad guy by the Canadian media! |

absolutely the Flyers don't. As a flyers fan I don't want anything to interfere with Giroux being back on the ice to start the season but its not the Flyers that makes that decision, its Giroux. The Flyers do the agreement between the NHLPA and NHL and IOC cannot stop Giroux from participating in the cap or the Olympics if he (Giroux) wants to. Giroux choosing not to is find by me and yes he can get information over the next three months but in Hockey Canadas opinion would it not have been easier to come to a 4 to 5 day camp. |

Of course they do. In fact, in his first game there, they donated a lifetime supply of pacifiers to him for his first-born.

See the part about comparing Philadelphia's marauders of fans to these crazy French asses. |

How tho. Do you not think Giroux wants to participate in Sochi. Do you think Hockey Canada cant form a team to win without Giroux. The Olympics is a short tournament with little to no prep time do to the NHL season. The players will have one, maybe two practices before playing their first game in February. Do you not think Giroux going would have been beneficial to him as well as Hockey Canada if he is named to the Team come December. - RobFlyers#1
Your not following what I'm saying. It has nothing to do with Giroux not wanting to participate in the Olympics. It has to do with what the priority is now due to his injury. We're a few weeks away from NHL training camp. Giroux's priority should be rehabbing his injury under the Flyers supervision, and doing everything he can to get ready for the upcomoing NHL Season. Which starts in October. The Olympics aren't until next year. |

Bill, if I were a hockey writer scout, I'd say you were a blue chip prospect. Keep up the good work and eventually one of the idiots who runs these newspapers and television networks will take notice.
Re: Giroux. I'd say his loyalties at this point are with the Flyers. He's their captain coming off a 'down' year that they just paid a ton of money to. It's more important that he stay in the area than go to Canada and shoot the poop with a bunch of all stars.
Good to hear Talbot is ready to go. It seems everyone except Giroux is back to 100% percent. I guess not going to the playoffs has its benefits. - PhillySportsGuy

If they can find a way to overlay Hartnell's face over that, that would be pure nightmare fuel. |

Ok, then both I, BulliesPhan87, and my hypothetical 'if I were the Flyers' self are glad Giroux made that decision. Nuts to Hockey Canada, Giroux made the right decision. |

I get that and I respect that. The flyers pay his salary but I understand hockey Canada and there viewpoint as well. They want Giroux healthy and available come February. |

I was in the stands (this was before I was credentialed) for all three World Cup games in Philly in 1996 and I still think it was the best hockey I've ever seen in person. When LeClair scored in the final seconds to force overtime in Game 1 of the best-of-three round against Canada, the building went bonkers. Total strangers were embracing like it was Lake Placid revisited. I will never forget it. - bmeltzer
That was the 2nd coolest non Flyers game I ever saw in person. Number one was watching the Flyers obliterate the Soviet Red Army team in January of 76. That was just frankin priceless!! I can watch Ed Van Impe throw that elbow again and again!

I always like when my comments are dissected and argued over.
"Canada can suck it" was in reference to Hockey Canada being little babies over the fact that Claude Giroux elected to stick with rehabbing in Philly rather than participating in a mindless ball hockey game.
"USA! USA! USA!" is in reference to how awesome 'MURICA is. |

So you think Hockey Canada is pissed off because they want Giroux healthy and available come February? His health has zero to do with why Hockey Canada is upset. Hockey Canada's gripe is foolish and petulant. |
