Is it likely we will have ALL our injured defenseman healthy and ready for training camp? - Buzzo
Outside of Pronger, yes. |
|
|
|
He has a ton of skill with the puck, and I think he is going to make an already good PP into a great PP.
5 vs 5, I think he is going to need to be used in the right situation to succeed.
I am really looking forward to seeing how the D pairs shape up this year.
Likely we will see several different combinations. - Marc D
I agree with you Marc. He has some good skills. He can move the puck, and certainly is a quality player on the PP. I hope he sees a good amount of first unit power play time.
The defense core can be a pleasant surprise if they can remain healthy. |

Ok so I could get a general feel of what our offense should be capable of doing, I did projected goal totals for the whole team. Correct me where you think I'm off:
Scott Hartnell (30) - Claude Giroux (25) - Jakub Voracek (35)
Brayden Schenn (20) - Vincent Lecavalier (25) - Wayne Simmonds (25)
Simon Gagne (15) - Sean Couturier (15) - Matt Read (20)
Zac Rinaldo (5) - Scott Laughton (10) - Max Talbot (15)
Kimmo Timonen (5) - Luke Schenn (5)
Mark Streit (10) - Braydon Coburn (4)
Erik Gustafsson (5) - Nicklas Grossmann (1)
270 goals for (3.3 GF/G) |

I don't think anyone can state with certainty, that you're off anywhere. Those totals could certainly happen. The only thing that I'll mention is to look at history. And look at the last 2-3 Seasons and see how many teams had 7 Forwards that scored 20 or more goals. And had 10 forwards with 15 or more goals, in a Season. |

2010-11 Flyers were a Ville Leino goal away from having 7 20-goal scorers. I thin 2011-2012 they were only a few off too. Certainly would be a great benchmark to hit. |

270 goals for the team puts them in the upper echelon of offensive talents in the NHL. Only Pittsburgh scored more (282) in 2011-2012 (Boston had 269, Flyers had 264). |

The 11/12 team also came fairly close with 4 over 20, and 8 over 15. With two players with 19 goals. Jagr and Talbot. Those projected totals are hefty, although not impossible. |

This is actually correct.
Hartnell's 37 goals from 2011-2012 is the most he's scored at any level I could google stats for, including the WHL. |

Can't help but wonder if, once the pre-season starts and Mez plays a couple of games, that he gets traded for 35 cents on the dollar. |

Nobody should be surprised if Timonen continued playing past 2013-14. He is literally a warrior, who has shown time and again that he'll play-and play at a high level-with injuries that would sideline many players - Jsaquella
I'm fine with it but not at his current salary. |

I read this alot and I'd like more information on this opinion.
Exactly what should Kimmo Timonen be paid based upon what he does? |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Timonen, Laviolette, Shero and Tarasov - bmeltzer
I'm not gonna say the Flyers are gonna win the Cup this season, I'm just gonna say that they should very well contend this season. It should be a priority to not only win for the organization but win for Kimmo Timonen who has give it his all since being here.
With Timonen in mind I have a question.
Chris Pronger vs. Paul Coffey. Both have had great careers, maybe not as Flyers but overall. Who was better out of the two? Who had the better overall game? Whoever wins this match, how did the winner match up to Mark Howe? I wanna know who was the best defenseman to wear the jersey regardless of how long they were here. |
