Well done as always, Bill. After 2 years of Circus Bryz, Emery is truly a breath of fresh air!
Re Gagne: Unless Talbot is skating on the 4th line, Im not sure where Gagne fits in the lineup as I can't see him ina 4th line energy role. - BiggE
Gags is a better linemate for Couturier on the 3rd line than Talbot would be. Both are great Defensive players but Gagne has a better history of knowing how to step up his offensive game in a big way and to pick his spots. That's something Coots needs to work on.
Great article Bill. I'm stoked for Emery's return. I've always wondered what would have happened had Emery stayed healthy during our cup run. I love his new attitude and was touched that he accredited much of his rehab surgery to Homer & Snider for finding the then experimental procedure and surgeon for him. I felt very proud to be a fan of an organization that takes care of it's players, especially when it has no immediate benefit to them. As that would be twice this organization helped him come back and play NHL hockey, I can understand why he wanted to come back and contribute. It's good to have him back. |

I think it will be a mid-season move, when a team loses a top-4. Although, chances are that team will be the Flyers. - jmatchett383

I do this along with Game 5 vs. Montreal continually. |

Disappointing 9-7 regular season, playoff road warriors, super bowl. That's the formula! |

You have Mezsaros healthy at mid-season?
I'm thinking he will be in a wheelchair by the end of camp. |

After a torn eyeball socket suffered in training camp keeps him out for 2 months, there will be a 4-game stretch in early December where he'll be cleared before he dislocates his neck playing a game of long toss with Miss America. That's our trade window. |

Sounds about right. Still can't believe the Giroux news. And frankly I'm not buying it. Millions of golfers tee it up every day, and I have never heard of something like that happening. |

That might be pushing it. Although unfortunately current or past Flyers have tragically perished in auto, plane, and boat accidents. Keep Meszaros away from trains. |

Nobody's really buying into that.
Except maybe the Stepford fans. |

Well expecting to escape the summer unscathed by injuries wasn't realistic. I mean when players aren't even playing hockey they drop like flies all over the League. |

Seravalling hate that term.
1) My favorite team makes a decision.
2) I disagree with the team's decision.
3) Anyone agreeing with the team's decision is a Stepford.
*yawn*
It's just as bad as:
1) My favorite team makes a decision.
2) I agree with the team's decision.
3) Anyone disagreeing with the team's decision is silly because if they were that bright, they'd be on the team's payroll.

I like Emery. I was really happy to have him the first time. The guy is a competitor!
I love the video of him fighting the Sabres goalie from a few years back. When he was done with the goalie Peters from the Sabres jumped Emery. Emery fought a known enforcer with all of his goalie gear on and smiled and laughed the whole time. If that does not make him a true "Flyers" type of player than I do not know what does. - mickel25

Oh boy did he ever. Tuned him up pretty good. Didn't he also beat the piss out out Peter Vandemeer in the minors? I believe that sparked Neil Little leaping over the pile. |

I was at the Emery shut out in Calgary. He was sharp when needed. My hopes were high heading back to Edmonton where Leighton shut out the Oilers for 59:44, then stupid Potulny scored with 0:16 left in the game for a 1-0 Oilers win. It was nice to see 119:44 mins of Flyers shut out hockey, but only 2 points to show for it.
Back to Earth, another great write Bill. Many only see the Emery who was a burden in Ottawa or the Emery who fought with the KHL trainer over the hat. I think having two capable goalies with lots to prove on short deals may really surprise many this year. |
