Glad to see you kept productive recreation like forum dwelling on your resume, though

Im asking you though, Regardless of Giroux being a center and Gaborik a winger....Overall, with all aspects of hockey skill taken into account. Do you truly believe that Gaborik is better than Tavares and as good as Giroux? Thats all Im saying.... Hes isnt even better than Patrick Kane and Kane is 88 overall. What world do they live in???
- GOA88

Gaborik vs. Tavares. Based on last season alone, yes Tavares is better. Based over the entire body ofboth player's careers, I think Gaborik has proven to be the better NHL player.

Mostly in the same way playing video games relates to joining real life. "Conversation" is an optimistic appraisal of what we do around here, anyways.

That isnt a fair comparison, Tavares just barely entered the league a little while ago and has already proved to have more skill than Gaborik in his prime. Tavares is now and will continue to be the better player. I dont care about 5 years ago. Im talking about today. Lemieux once was the greatest player on skates, not anymore.....

You took what I said and completely put words in my mouth.

Me: Gaborik has a fairly long history of offensive success, with his only "bad" offensive season being the past season. The NHL ratings system is based on a player, not a player's prior season. 90 is about where he should be.

You, quoting me: So you think... Overall as a player... Gaborik is as good as Giroux and better than Tavares..... right now??

Where at any point did I say that I thought that Gaborik was better than or as good as Giroux and Tavares right now?

I made my argument and more reasonable comparison based on your arguments. You've just ignore them. Alexander Ovechkin is also a snipping winger who isn't very good defensively and will be somewhere in between a 93 and 95 rating in NHL14. Should Ov not be?

There's a reason why Gretzky had a high rating in the inaugural game (NHLPA hockey) despite the fact he played less than 20 games the prior season. It's because the game bases the ratings on the player's cumulative past seasons as well as their current level of play, not solely on the prior season.

The ratings are based on skill in these categories....Shooting, Puck Skills, Senses, Skating, Physical, Defense. That is based on current skill level, not on the past or even based on how many pts the player scores. Anybody thats knows anything about hockey would tell you that Gaborik isnt even in the same sentence of Tavares and Giroux at this time... 2013

I thought thats what you were implying, so if Gaborik is a 90 then what would you put Giroux and Tavares at???

I personally would put them about the same. As you said, his attribues in the shooting and speed area will outweighth theirs, but they will outweight him in other areas. Again, I'm not saying that I think he's a better player than them overall at this point and time. But based on his current skill level and the way the game ranks players, I believe it is about correct. Would I take either of them over him if I were starting a team? Absolutely.
