Have you looked over what Gaborik has done in recent years instead of having tunnel vision over a 48 game lockout season? Ask yourself in four seasons with the Rangers how many times Gaborik succeeded at his bread and butter, scoring goals.

He can be signed to an entry-level contract if the Flyers wish. Otherwise, he goes back in the Draft for 2014.

Speaking of player ratings. I remember when I skipped NHL98 for NHL faceoff 98 with John LeClair on the cover. If memory serves, LeClair was 99. Lindros was a 97. Sakic and Forsberg were a pair of 99's. Roy was 99. Karya and Selanne were 99's as well. Yashin was a 97?? Outrageous!!!!

Pulock cost me John Carlson, a 2016 1st round pick, Matt Read (signed to a 6-year, $0.875/ye deal, wtf), and an unsigned defensive prospect who had been a 2nd rounder. I'm guessing Crosby is basically untouchable.

My gut is if Mezaros is even a little doubtful of being recovered he goes LTIR for the season. That will be both his and the teams path, IMO
Last contract year, he has not been well for a while and is a hard luck case
I think he will be gun shy to play and will lack the mental & physical ability to be the physical and somewhat mobile d man he used to be
Next year he can go play in Europe or the KHL for a bundle in a less physical though worse travel and medical support league
