I don't know if any player is a 99 right now. I know that Crosby (and, after a few years, Pulock) are basically unobtainable in NHL 13. Pulock cost me John Carlson, a 2016 1st round pick, Matt Read (signed to a 6-year, $0.875/ye deal, wtf), and an unsigned defensive prospect who had been a 2nd rounder. I'm guessing Crosby is basically untouchable. - jmatchett383

I don't get why people think we have the worst prospect pool in the league? Add Hagg to that list and that's a solid group of prospects.

My gut is if Mezaros is even a little doubtful of being recovered he goes LTIR for the season. That will be both his and the teams path, IMO
Last contract year, he has not been well for a while and is a hard luck case
I think he will be gun shy to play and will lack the mental & physical ability to be the physical and somewhat mobile d man he used to be
Next year he can go play in Europe or the KHL for a bundle in a less physical though worse travel and medical support league - Steelmanpa
You can't place a player on LTIR because he is doubtful of being recovered, or because he's gun shy. There has to be documented Medical proof that he is legitimately injured, which has to be approved by the League. |

Manning was very bad in his time on the big club this season. He appears to have a very long way to go before being relied on as an NHL starter. - JAKEw1234
He seemed to have regressed last year. We'll see what his future holds.

Would it be wise to wait on re-signing Brayden Schenn and seeing how he performs this season or do we need Schenn signed to a cap friendly hit so we can turn our attention to Matt Read? - dingo8urbaby
Catch 22. If you wait, and he has a strong year, might cost you a little more. I'd be looking to sign him to a fair deal for both sides right now. But I'd actually place re-signing Read as a priority over re-signing B Schenn.

I'd rather give him a bridge deal now for cheaper than wait to see if he has a breakout season and have to either pay him more for a bridge deal, or give him a big deal he might not live up to. If we can get him resigned for his cap hit now (or below) for the next few years, that'd be good. |

I agree with that. Read is a flight risk
If we resigned him this off season, what cap hit do you think we could get him for? |

I would expect it in the 4M range.

He's a bubble guy. He can be recalled to fill in as a 6th or 7th defenseman in case of injury. Expecting more than that, is likely expecting too much from him. |

Not when he had back-to-back season of 15 and 17 goals on a bad Florida team. |

I actually picked him up myself in my Connected league. I think it cost my Carlsson and a pick. He was only a 79, but he jumped up to an 84 the next year, and had a 99 slap shot (power and accuracy), was fast, and had good D skills. That trade was definitely worth it. |

Homer's answers from the STH Town Hall. - bodiva88
Thanks
Asked how he felt about buying out Danny Briere he said it was very hard to let him go. “I cried,” Homer said, and when the crowd laughed, he said, “No, I really did.”
