First game I ever saw him play was when he was a rookie with St. Louis. I was impressed with his game. I think the Blues lineup was decimated by injuries at the time which resulted in a ton of TOI for Eller. I kid you not he looked almost Forsbergian.

There were times this year he really looked like he could control the pace of the game and hold the puck deep in the offensive zone while dangling away from opponents.

Then he'd disappear completely for long stretches.

I like his game but he's still young and is dealing with some consistency issues.

well i hate to break it to you but but not even the best players in the world control the pace of the game every shift. you refer to his "disappearing" as inconsistency. but that's just hockey. you have good shifts where you create offence, then you have shifts where nothing is working. i don't think that will change much. if Eller can bump his production a bit from last year and be a 20-goal/60-point centre, we should all be thrilled. could be the long-term answer at second centre.
