Do you get fully compensated for your time while on jury duty?

Or do you end up losing money because they don't pay you as much as your regular income?

I got the jury selection questionnaire in the mail about a year ago; filled it out and sent it in and heard nothing since...but I'm not sweating it whether they summon me or not.

I'll take that as no.

Not surprised, I simply have no idea how it works.

Yep.

Actually, I've never had a job where I wouldn't have been fully paid if I was called for jury duty, although I know there are some employers who don't offer this.

I think if you work for the state, you end up getting paid what would be missing of your regular salary after receiving what jury duty gives you.

Could be. But in the private sector it's up to the employer.

Given that I work at a law firm, chances are it would look pretty bad on them if they DIDN'T pay their employees while they served on a jury.

Very rare here that the employer compensates. It's $5/day here.

Jury pay isn't much better here; I'm not sure the exact numbers but it's only a couple of bucks/day and it escalates after 15 days to a slightly higher number. But it's peanuts compared to one's regular salary.

My employer pays be the difference between jury pay and my regular salary if I'm serving on a jury.

EDIT: My mistake. Jury pay is pretty bad here:

•From day 1 to 10: No compensation
•From day 11 to 49: $40.00 per day
•From day 50 to the last day of trial: $100.00 per day. Trials of this length are rare.
