I really dont like the Nucks. But with the Twins, Lou and a couple solid dman. Van will nvr be a top 10 draft pick team. Plain and simple. - poisondhearts37
Guess they could do what Ponce de León couldn't. |

Doesn't matter. It's because it's the Leafs who traded away those pieces for one player. I'm amazed it hasn't evolved into:
So the Leafs traded 2 1sts and a 2nd that turned into
Seguin, Hamilton, Knight which basically is
Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith, and Matt Fraser, Hamilton and Knight for one player! LOL I'll take all those guys any day over one guy who is only a top 10 scorer that last 2 seasons. HAHA! LAFFS - weirdoh
WOW....when Kessel walks away for nothing but one playoff round in five years the Leafs are going to be crying next year!!!!! Boston raped Burkie!!!!
Edit: better? |

I can't see him doing that. He hasn't even played a full season yet. You sure you've read that story right? |

Why is he better than Karlsson? He's five months older than Karlsson, so roughly the same age, but he's never put up numbers like Karlsson. Why is he better? He's a soft player, so he doesn't have a physical edge over Karlsson...just curious as to why you think that. - LeftCoaster
Its not always about numbers, he has a edge defensively and physically. Superior defensive acumen with offense approaching elite. OEL may be slightly better, haven't seen him play much. Karlsson is an elite talent no doubt but I think Pietrangelo is a better Dman. He is soft the same way Lidstrom was soft, uses his body when he needs to but since he is always in the right spot he doesn't need to very often. Conserves energy because he know he will be on the ice for close to half of the game. And he is only getting better. I think if they don't lock him up now it will cost them far far more in 2 or 3 years. They have gotten pretty lucky up until this point with team friendly contracts so far this year though, so who knows. |

If I was Colorado I would be bold enough to offer McKinnon for his rights ( I know Nate hasnt played an NHL game) But I think it could work out better for both teams then the last trade these 2 teams made |

trade kinda makes sense IMO, they'll have enough cap tp likely sign franson and getting Liles at a bit of a discount, Franson has similar stats and is still a young player, toronto gets rid of some cap while etting some picks back for liles.
Since St Louis will likely be finishing (hopefully) closer to the top of the league(6th last season) and 2nd and 4th are like a 3 and 5th pick
and it fits in the cap needs of both teams.
I'm unaware of the cap state aside from pietranglo for STL (know slightly more about Tor at least lol) , so this may just be absurd lol just thoughts purely |

Franson and Liles alone for Pietro is laughable. Sure Franson put up points. But like that Philly fan just said. It isnt only about numbers. Pietro does all the other little things. Franson will never be a Dman to build a back end around. Pietro will. Doughty doesnt put up stellar numbers. Yet everyone likes him. Thats because he does all the little things. He plays good D. Makes good hits. Chips in. Pietro is the same mold. Will put up some points but does all the other things that most one dimentional players wont do. Theyre responsible in theyre end first and then take care of the other end of the ice. Toronto couldnt make a trade for Pietro happen even if they wanted to. They would have to give up to much and cripple theyre team just get one Player. |

What are 55 point defensemen going for these days? - LeftCoaster
Pietroangelo's never scored 55 points, he scored 51 once playing 81 games. Id like to see more then 1 time 50 point scorer before he gets payed like an elite defensman. If a guy averages 42 points per season and scores 50 points once, do we call him a 55 point defenceman. He has to develop his defensive game more aswell. A transitional contract is what he should take and use it as motivation to become better, like PK Subban. Pk Subban is better then Pietroangelo and he's making 3 per? Do we call Henrik Sedin a 115 point player because he scored 112 once. Alex Pietroangelo is a 40-45 point player coming off an average year and he's looking for a home run, the blues arnt stupid. Pietroangelo is no lock for team Canada on the right side either, he is a very over hyped player at this time, hasnt proved much. I see Pietroangelo as a reserve defensman on the right side at best right now. Weber, Doughty, Seabrook, Subban, Letang are all better right handed defensman sofar in there careers as perhaps 2 of those guys may more to the left side for Canada because there so deep on that side. |

I think Pietrangelo will turn out to be as good if not better than Bouwmeester was projected to be. A+ skating, defensive awareness and positioning, offense developing from above average to elite. Not an overtly physical player, but has the ability when needed. A leader. As I say this I realize that he would be worth 4 1sts. |

true but the odds are pretty low. I think the franchise d is worth more than anything anyway. Although McDavid being your former pick is a worry.
