I'm saying he's not as good as the stud #1 D-Man he was hyped in Florida. - RogerRoeper
He is good enough that Team Canada is seriously considering bringing him to the Olympics.
How many non-studs does Team Canada let tag along? |

He'll play very few minutes. My point was about his unbelievable hype he got in Florida. |

Right now Kessel is better. Why would their overall careers matter? When the Leafs first got Kessel people said Burke should have just signed Cammelari as a UFA because he's better than Kessel. How is that thought process working out now?
Seguin being a drunken slob and traded by age 21 has severely hurt the "Worst Trade Eva" argument. - RogerRoeper
That's not true at all. Why because he scores more? They are both good players, Eriksson is a better 200 foot forward though. Depends how you look at the game I guess. |

Kessel is 4th in NHL scoring the past 2 years without a top 6 centre - RogerRoeper

Stop with the defense excuse. Defense is overrated. The NHl scoring is dropping yearly.
Yes, being 4th in NHL scoring the past two years and playing great in the playoffs with Tyler Bozak means he's better.
We're going to reach a point soon where there's no way 50 goal scorers or 100 point scorers in the NHL. But people act like defensive play is the be all and end all. |

Agreed, Loui can play all 3 zones at a high level. Kessel is a one dimensional player and will always be that. Wouldn't shock me if Eriksson put up better numbers than Kessel this year playing on a very potent Bruins team. |

If I was the Leafs I wouldn't trade Kessel for Semin, not in this lifetime, or the next one or even the next onw or the one after that. NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!! |

Deal. Not sure the Blues have the rights to Peiterangelp, but he sounds pretty good.

No. Kessel right now is better. And Kessel is more consistent, and can score with anyone. |

BTW, why do people still act like Jared Knight is some stud prospect?
Apparently, the best way to be considered a "Franchise Player" is to be traded for Phil Kessel. You don't have to play an NHL game. |

you've got it bad for Kessel. I'll give you this, he's a very good OFFENSIVE player. That said, you're overstating him a bit. We all do it though.
They've got the same amount of points right now, so they're of equal value. |

Hey when Kessel was traded all we heard was how he only did it because of Marc Savard. Now he's a top 5 scorer the past two years with the exact opposite situation and people still don't want to give him credit.
And Semin's stats are not as good BTW. |

Well Peiterangelo is an RFA. I realize the Blues fans want 1000% to get him signed & don't want his rights traded. Totally understandable. I'm just giving an option in case negotiations with the Blues reach a complete impasse. |

Semin had six less points in four less games, you're splitting hairs, give me a break. Their numbers are almost the exact same! If goals are suddenly somehow worth more than assists then they'd better re-write the record books for Gretzky. |

Well said RR. Remember, Kessel's 1st 3 seasons with an inferior Leaf team, he scored 30 plus goals in each season. Not to mention 20 goals in 48 games last season. All 4 seasons mind u WITHOUT a true #1 center, Despite he's all obstacles faced since arriving in TO, the guy has produced big time. |

But you only want to talk about last year when it comes to Eriksson? You keep saying "currently", so lets talk last year.
For the record over the past four years Loui Eriksson has only 29 less points than Kessel (253 vs 224), but he's +15 as oppose to Kessel who is -41. Are they really "currently" that far apart? |

Erikkson the previous season was also outscored by Kessel. |
