I really like Schroeder. He can stay on his skates better than Raymond ever could. Winning faceoffs is a bonus. If he continues to improve on the back check and his defensive zone patience the way he did last season he will be very good for us.

I admit the disappointment is palpable when looking at the lineup card with new youth supposedly coming in: and then realizing there may only be one or two spots available for the under 20's... But glass half full :
#1.> important transition to buffer the Sedins? gives us the line of:
D. Booth / R. Kesler / Z. Kassian* (* Having big Zach on the first line is exactly the elixir he will need to develop his confidence and talents.)
#2.> D. Sedin / H. Sedin / A. Burrows
#3. > C. Higgins / B.Gaunce* / J. Hansen (*Giving a talented rookie 4th line minutes would be the popular thought but by bracketing Brandon in between veterans with some talent is the Modus operandi of Torts for developing youth at center.

Woulda bought him out, but injured.
Coulda traded him, but his stock not very high at all.
Shoulda thought about where to put him in lineup more. Not sure if him and Kesler work as well as our fan base is hoping, both are shoot first players and not sure who you put on that line to distribute the puck.

I am hoping he is healthy and plays more than 70 games. I have liked how he crashes the net, just reminds me of Hansen at times where the effort is there but can't buy a goal. I also like how he is still young, and hope he gets 20 + goals this season. I think his spot will be gone by end of this season with Jensen/Horvat/Hunter taking it for alot cheaper.

I did not mind when they had Booth with the twins, fans just need to realize it will take a few games for Booth to figure out how to play with them.

Kassian is an underated passer, could work well with Kes, Torts just needs to give him some slack (IMO he will).
