Thanks, Bo...interesting stuff...Still think Laviolette failed to adjust properly to the players he had, more than them not playing "well"...not that they played well, but it's hard to use a hammer to fix a chipped china placesetting. - Jsaquella
I am alarmed how the failure of the Flyers to even gain, let alone set up in, the offensive zone at regular strength was not acknowledged as a part of last season's disappointment by Laviolette. |

Nikolai Zherdev released from Lev Prague before season even starts. There’s a Labor Day joke in there somewhere. - Jsaquella

Question for you.
Is there anyone on the current roster who you would nominate for a current Lunchpail team other then Kimmo?
I vote for Simmonds. |

Indeed. Kapanen never took a shift off. The sort of guy you root for -- I hope that trait was passed on to his son. I'd love to see another Kapanen who plays like that.
That "first team" would be a PITArse to play against. Wow.
Thanks for picking Ed Van Impe for the second team, Bill. One of my earliest talks with my dad was Flyers-related and how even the players of moderate skill can "make it" because of the effort put forth. Ed Van Impe was the example used. Of course, when he ran over Valeri Kharlamov in the game vs. the Red Army, that sealed his place in many Flyers fans' hearts. - Flyskippy
Dad was a good judge of character.
Don't forget if it was not for some guy named Bobby Orr, Eddie would've been the Calder Trophy winner in 1966-67 |

I was more concerned with the superfluous comma and 'knowledgable' missing its D in "Sports from a passionate, knowlegable fan’s perspective." - Flyskippy
I don't even know where that is. Let alone where to go to tix it. The comma is perfectly fine. The missing "d" is clearly a hanging offense. |

I like the whites, the orange, not so much - KINGKENZO
I can agree with that. I personally feel quite "meh" about our current jerseys, although they've been repeatedly voted not only one of the best jerseys in hockey, but one of the best in sports by non-Flyers sources. |

I'm amazied that you think he'd go into that kind of detail in a 20 min STH meeting. Kenzo's question was the most technical thing anyone said all evening. |

Even in other interviews, Laviolette seems unwilling to lay blame on his unwillingness to tweak things until it became "necessary" after the deluge of defense injuries down the stretch. |

I really like Milan Lucic but with talks of him playing for team Canada the last few seasons and him actually getting invited to camps, my question is, is he overrated? I like his game but every season it seems like he's always coming into Bruins camp out of shape, he's only hit the 30 goal plato once. As far as skill, Lucic might only be one step ahead of Simmonds. Why doesn't Simmonds not get such consideration? |

No, it won't. If Laviolette is fired mid-year, it will be the Paddock-Murray-Stevens watch. |

Not often, I just hope he recognizes that his insistence on running the wrong system for the players on his roster contributed mightily to the team's issues. |

I would go Murray. I think it's tough to ignore what he's done with the Flyers to date and what he did prior to him getting fired by the Kings. I like to think he laid the coaching group work setting up a Cup win. I think his firing was more on the players then him as a coach. |

I'd like to think it will continue, neither of those coaches can/would leave their current gig mid year. |

Lucic plays on a team that has had more playoff success and has won a Cup. Lucic is not overrated.

I'd go with Murray, too. I have no interest in Paddock as a head coach, and Stevens would require compensation, in all probability. |

I agree, but I sincerely hope it doesn't happen. I think Laviolette is a good Coach, but I have doubts about his commitment to team defensive play, and an over reliance on an extremely aggressive forecheck.

Maybe next summer, it would start, but if they miss the playoffs, it'll be Hextall or somebody else making that call. |
