Maybe next summer, it would start, but if they miss the playoffs, it'll be Hextall or somebody else making that call.

A lot of things can happen. I'll start with the OHL season on September 19th.

Same here, I just realized the QMJHL starts September 12. On September 13 I can watch Morin play against Baie-Comeau.

That's even better news.

Lucic plays on a team that has had more playoff success and has won a Cup. Lucic is not overrated.
- MJL

I most definitely think Milan can be defined as overrated. It's a team sport and the Bruins as a whole have a solid team with one of the best, if not the best defenseman in the business. Late in the season Lucic had a number of healthy scratches to add to the resume. As I stated, he's been known to come into camp out of shape and his numbers are far from overwhelming.

I'd go with Murray, too. I have no interest in Paddock as a head coach, and Stevens would require compensation, in all probability.
- Jsaquella

Stevens? Nah. Not a chance.

Most likely Murray if any of those three, and only on an interim basis. Then hopefully they go outside and bring in someone with fresh ideas.

And I think you're right. Hextall will probably be making the call.

I can agree with that. I personally feel quite "meh" about our current jerseys, although they've been repeatedly voted not only one of the best jerseys in hockey, but one of the best in sports by non-Flyers sources.
- JAKEw1234

I love our current jerseys and I'm not putting these up to say I endorse a change. I just like the site and what they do for jersey concepts. I will say these are the among the best of Flyer concepts I've seen

True.

Especially if Hextall takes over the reins. I don't know what kind of relationship he had with Stevens or how he thought of him as a coach.

I could also see Stevens' "soft touch" being desireable after Laviolette's hard charging one.

The Flyers historically have alternated "good cop-bad cop" coaching wise.

I'm really hoping it will be a number of years away before holmgren and Laviolette are replaced. I want Hextall to take over but not until it's necessary. I like the make of our team and I feel we have both guys to thank for this, especially Homer.

Lucic missed 2 games last Seasons due to personal reasons. He had 19 pts in 22 playoff games this past playoff Season. He's a very good player. And not overrated.

I wanted Laviolette fired last season, but as long as he's here, I will wish him success and hope that he proves me wrong and wins another Stanley Cup, this time as the Flyers head coach

If you google "Milan Lucic healthy scratch" a number of links will loud up dating around May 20th 2013. All of which saying nothing about Lucic being scratched due to personal issues and all of which saying that Claude Julian being unhappy with his play.

If Lucic makes Team Canada, to me it's strictly because he was apart of a Cup winning team and making it to the final last season. To me this is overrating Lucic, the same way Talbot has been overrated by scoring two goals in the stanley cup final back in 09. Who cares.

Now that I know where he was for those two personal days off, I'm now wondering where he was for the rest of the season. Scott Hartnell can apparently score seven goals on a broken leg and a bad team. Why is Lucic getting international consideration? He won't be that rock in front of the net on the power play, Lucic doesn't really produce. His numbers to me just don't make my eyes pop out of my head. It would be like adding Shane Corson to Team Canada again for all the wrong reasons.

In my opinion Lucic doesn't have team Canada worthy numbers. I like him. I like his game but I think he's overrated. Hartnell can be streaky in his own right but has proven he's better then Lucic but doesn't get the same international consideration. Why is that?

I have to agree. Lucic's potential right now is better than the sum of his talents.

He's definitely had moments when he's been dominant, but so far the consistency hasn't been there, IMO. Too many folks seem to see him as a perennial 30 goal scorer, which he isn't yet.

I don't think Talbot's overrated. He scored 2 very big goals (and goaded Carcillo into that stupid fight). I don't think most people see him as more than a bottom-6 player who will give you 8-12 goals a year and play strong on the PK. I actually think Talbot's maybe not underrated, but undervalued. People always seem to think we could just ship him off and easily replace him, but he's far from a dime a dozen player. He's a player along the same lines of Laperriere, with a little more skill and not quite as tough. But he's definitely the type of player you need to win.

Also, if I could have either Hartnell right now or Lucic right now, I'm taking Lucic all day. Lucic is no speedster, but Hartnell would be little more than a turnstile on that big ice. I think Lucic is a bit overrated, but at their current states, I'd take Lucic to Sochi, and I love Hartnell as a player. However, I don't think either of them (or Kunitz) should be considered.

Agreed re: Talbot. He's well liked, but for a lunchpail skillset along with the ability to score a handful (and rarely two handfuls) of goals per season.

Yeah, I don't think Talbot is overrated by the vast majority of fans. He was expected to come in and be good on the PK, provide modest offense and be a solid two way player and leader...he's done that.

I further agree that I wouldn't take Lucic, Kunitz or Hartnell to Sochi

What does Talbot make? 2 mil a year? How can anyone say he's overrated? Overrated compared to whom, exactly?

Also, don't underestimate Hartnell's ability to play with skilled people on a big ice surface. I think he would surprise you with how he'd fit in. Not that I think he (or Lucic or Kunitz) deserves to go.

I'm so disappointed in the sheriffs who didn't point out to me that I'd misspelled Lecavalier in the second installment. Fixed now. This new post is the Laviolette session.

i'm still shocked for some reason that he's on the flyers. excited to see what he's got left in the tank.
