I'd say it's more an issue of information about contracts (or trades) that are not final are hard to believe coming from anyone at all. I feel like misinformation comes out purposely from agents and club sources as a tactic, and also just from shysters trying to get web hits.

In this case it's hard to tell. As a Leaf fan I hope both Bobo and the other guy just got burned by sources. If their reports are accurate and Kadri is lying publically about it, that's lame. Why not just say nothing? On the other hand if it is actually true that he hasn't asked for that kind of deal at all, then I can see why he would want to set that straight. But then again why bother even with that? It doesn't matter, and if you start trying to set the record straight constantly as Leaf in Toronto, that's a full time (frank)ing job.

Kadri does have skill. Undeniable. I believe he was drafted 7th overall. I would give up a 1st (somewhere around 25th to 30th pick ) and our 3rd (somewhere mid 80s) for the 7th overall.

Leafs would match 2 or 3 years I think. And after being burned like that by the Canucks, after that Gillis can forget about any Luongo deal.

As a Leaf fan I can tell you though, the hockey gods have a way of making those firsts you give away somehow get many positions away from the best case scenario...if the Nucks signed Kadri and finished twentieth, which is just a few injuries away for lots of teams with how tight the NHL is, and Kadri was mediocre for his contract, then we'd see some fireworks
