Can't believe this is actually happening. Faaack!

At the beginning, I figured Naz would get signed first. Now, I'm starting to see the opposite. Franson seems much more composed and looks prepared to sign a one year deal and just go for gold next year. We'll probably see that done shortly before or during camp.

Kadri is looking like he's not going to go down so easily. If this keeps going the the way it's going, he could talk himself right out of the city. How do you think we got Kessel?

At least we can take solace that Stepan and Hodgson are in the same situation with their clubs, and that were not the only fanbase going through this. They just don't get the media circus along with it!

Regarding Kessel: the Bruins were absolutely screwed with cap space. They didn't even have enough room to give Kessel anything, even if he agreed to take less than market value.

People seem to think that Kessel was holding out and forced the Bruins to trade him. In reality, there wasn't any doubt about what he was worth. The only thing that stood between Boston and Kessel was the salary cap.

When Kadri scores 36 goals in a season, he can have his 5 mil, no problem.

We should hire Ron Wilson as a special GM just to handle Kadri's contract negotiations and then maybe he will see that the offer he's currently getting is not too bad at all.......

Wilson would offer him a half eatin pizza and a beer to sit in the stands.....

Its actually pretty funny, they have all their money tied up with suter, heatley, koivu, parise, pominville that they have no room to get defense... once heatley goes vanek will replace him

He's defending what he wrote. He doesn't have a position. He has a source and he's saying "this is what my source told me." He's standing by that source. Nothing more. It's not personal for Bob. Bob retracting his statements after Kadri saying he's wrong would be quite unprofessional and cost him serious cred.

Well that's a good thing Kadri plays hockey and isn't a sports writer/news anchor.

Reading around the net and it's clear Toronto gets way too much attention. Definitely the most discussed hockey team for all the wrong reasons. Who cares what this kid wrote on twitter? Why is it so surprising that he fired back a comment?

Kadri, while talented, is still young - not everybody can come into the game with a stoic wisdom of a Crosby or Toews. With that said, why then do we criticize a kid for retaliating when someone is essentially calling him greedy. I like Bob Mackenzie but this is a case of new modes of information delivery catching up to an old dog.

I would explain but I don't think it's necessary.

The fact is that even if Kadri doesn't say anything, the rumors would continue to swirl around until the bell rings. It's catch 22; he could keep his mouth shut, but that wouldn't have stopped people claiming he's greedy (etc), but we now know that coming out and refuting someones claim draws just as much ire from the media. Wait to see what happens before labeling the guy this or that.

People are still calling him greedy and saying he's comparing himself to JT, even after he came out and refuted Mackenzie's claims. It's so far overblown because he's a Leafs.

Simply. I can't believe everyone is eating it up, particularly after seeing his maturation over the course of last season.

It doesn't accomplish anything to make that trade other than put the Leafs back two or three years. Also, Calgary is not in the position to trade away young talent - because they need to build towards the future - considering they won't be contending for much at present.

Franson is a much more interesting story to be honest, yet no one seems to talk about him... Respectively, he has more value. If you compare apples to apples Kadri is probably your best bet.

With Franson at least you know more or less what you're getting. That's why I have an inkling that he might *dare I say* get traded moving closer to the beginning of the season. Nonis & staff hopefully have a plan to get him locked up, but I can't imagine how...
