Flyers announce new ECHL affiliate. Does this mean they are no longer affiliated with the Trenton Titans?

EDIT: now seeing Trenton no longer in operations?

I agree.

I'm also unclear as to why Nashville would even entertain an offer to move Jones.

Sometimes, you need to trade perceived organizational strength to fill holes.

Best examples in Flyers' history are the MacLeish, Howe and McCrimmon trades.

It's funny, but for all of the BS that some Leaf fans talked about who won the JVR-Luke Schenn deal, guess what the Leafs' biggest need was down the stretch?

A defenseman like Luke Schenn.

Holmgren mentioned it to me in July -- http://www.hockeybuzz.com...ore/45/52816#.Uiik_Zwknz4 -- but the press release didn't come until today.

Yes, the Trenton Titans went out of business after last season.

That trade, to this point, seems very even. JVR has become a solid 1st line power forward, and Luke has become a solid shutdown #2 or 3 dman.

I am actually being a little serious about this. I am guessing this individual would be awesome when it comes to slapshots. 1 on 1 I think he might have an agility problem.

So my team won the Mens League championship last night in thrilling fashion.. It only needed triple OT.

So their organizational strength is defense, and they're going to trade it for a defensive-minded forward? I'd think they'd want a proven 25+ goal scorer.

I would think they'd look to trade other assets to fill perceived holes, other then the potential franchise defenseman they just drafted.

Yep. I can't complain so far in that deal. I hope Kadri and Franson sit out all year and the Leafs go back to doing what they do best every spring.. golf!

Flyers defense prospect Valeri Vasiliev had to leave Spartak Moscow's KHL regular season opener midway through the third period with an apparent wrist injury. He took a crosscheck in the back about two feet from the boards and went in awkwardly with his wrist pinned under his own weight. He was in a lot of pain immediately and went up the tunnel holding his wrist.

Vasiliev, who said in a recent interview that he want to play three KHL seasons before taking his shot at the Flyers, had been playing very well in the opener. He was also coming off a very solid preseason with Spartak and the Russian national U20 team.

Unfortunately, I'd be surprised if he doesn't have a broken wrist... which could put him out for a substantial amount of time.

No, any respectable nerd wouldn't have tried to correct something that was right to begin with then failed embarrassingly. They fail embarrassingly at running and throwing a ball.

Philadelphia Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said that Scott Laughton has the best chance of making the team of any prospect or rookie in the system.
If the Flyers' attacking system rebounds in 2013, then plenty of players are worth watching, Laughton included. Avoiding the disruption of the lockout might just be the best thing going for Philly heading into 2013-14. Sep 5 - 2:25 PM
