Is Horvat better served dominating in Juniors or filling a 3 rd line center hole on the Canucks? |

That's typical Edmonton. Overvaluing . I went to Edm last winter and my brother referred to the Oiler players as our young superstars - VANTEL
How does sayin hes half the price, has a wayyy better contract and had better numbers than lu last year, imply dubs has a huge value?? Those are just facts.
Lu has negative value, so i suppose dubs has more value thsn him. but the same could be said for prob 25-30 other goalies.
I certainly aint big uppin dubs |

Narrow minded thinking. If Lu proves he is a top end goalie and can provide a team that has a core locked up for years that he could provide stable goaltending then his contract should not be an issue.
Lu's problems more than his contract have been his playoff meltdowns. Back then he was a little immature and has grown since.
He is so horrible that one of the leading nations in hockey have asked him to tryout to represent our nation at the Olympics.
Luongo's old reputation hurts him more than his actual contract. |

Me personally I would like to see him stick for at least the games before he uses up a year of contract and then make a decission. |

Bergeron crossed with Eric Staal.
Basically a more physical shoot first Bergeron |

I disagree whole heartedly with the last sentence.
Either way, all of your points are based on ifs and maybes depending on what he does going forward. Fact remains hes been untradeable for ages.
And the opposite of narrow minded could be said about your thinking....
At present only one of us has been proven correct thus far |

Him being tradable or not is opinion not fact. That is a actual fact |

Lets see at the end of the year.
Your comments are as factual as Hall will never win the Stanley Cup at present only one of us is priven correct. |

In a sense yes.
But theyve wanted to trade him, tried to trade him, and even relegated him to a backup.
Still hasnt been moved and they ended up trading the other guy.
Which i cant say is fact, but feel fairly certain that it was not the original plan. |

Laughably bad comparison/retort.

That shouldn't be a problem for a guy like Horvat. The guy oozes work ethic. If he's dominating early on, he'll just work harder to reach another level of domination. I'd give him 9 games to see how he handles it, but unless he astounds like RNH did in his rookie year, I'd send him down after that. One extra season of offensive development might do wonders for speeding up the development of his offensive game! |

I hear you but to be perfectly honest I couldn't give less of a sh!t about the optics around Gillis' resume. Situations change, players change, the league changes, why can't the decisions a GM makes be subject to change?
Anyway, Higgins might be utilized to great effect in the Torts system so we'll see what comes. All I'm saying is if we're (still) looking for that top 6 playmaker I'd consider Higgins to be available as part of the package. - AlexF
Ales Hemsky, anyone?
Oh wait, he's off the block now... |

Really?
Hall has been trying to win a cup for years ,Canucks tried to move Lu since last year, therefore both must be corrects seeing we are playing read the future.
They did have a trade in place but was blocked so it is not like it is far fetched. A team struggling this year that has issues with goaltending like Pens or Flyers may just come calling.
Oilers won't be close to making the playoffs so I seriously doubt they would be looking to aquire LU.but if they had a decent team they would be looking at him. |

Well, all evidence points towards him being at the very least a difficult sell. Maybe that changes for whatever reason, but as it stands this season, he is as close to untradable as exists in the NHL today. |

He is untradable before the season starts . . Let's see how he plays before we label him as unwantable. |

Philly and Pittsburgh will come looking to acquire Lu? Philly really *doesn't have* the cap space and doesn't seem like an organization that would mortgage a very bright future to "win now". Pittsburgh is slightly more likely, but they still have both Fleury (shaky recently) and Vokoun (getting older). I couldn't see any deal sending Lu to either team happening, especially seeing as the Canucks don't have a proven starter beyond Lu.
Let's wait till the season starts and we see how the team plays under a new coach before labeling a team a failure. |

We're not playing read the future. U were.
Everything ive said is based on what weve seen.
Its been a circus. That much is undeniable.
And again, we dont want lus contract no matter how successful we are. No one does.
Our guy is cheaper, younger, has a better contract and put up better numbers with more games played. On a worse team.
Which is why he hasnt been moved. Its not like 29 other teams have been unaware of luongos availability.
And as far as the strange hall comparison, does that mean kesler will never a cup either cause he hasnt yet? Lets stick to the stuff that makes sense. |
