Philly and Pittsburgh will come looking to acquire Lu? Philly really has the cap space and doesn't seem like an organization that would mortgage a very bright future to "win now". Pittsburgh is slightly more likely, but they still have both Fleury (shaky recently) and Vokoun (getting older). I couldn't see any deal sending Lu to either team happening, especially seeing as the Canucks don't have a proven starter beyond Lu. - MaximumBone
if Hartnell has a bad year boom salary solved.

That shouldn't be a problem for a guy like Horvat. The guy oozes work ethic. If he's dominating early on, he'll just work harder to reach another level of domination. I'd give him 9 games to see how he handles it, but unless he astounds like RNH did in his rookie year, I'd send him down after that. One extra season of offensive development might do wonders for speeding up the development of his offensive game! - MaximumBone
I agree.
I think a refined offensive game makes him a dominate 1st line center. |

We're not playing read the future. U were.
Everything ive said is based on what weve seen.
Its been a circus. That much is undeniable.
And again, we dont want lus contract no matter how successful we are. No one does.
Our guy is cheaper, younger, has a better contract and put up better numbers with more games played. On a worse team.
Which is why he hasnt been moved. Its not like 29 other teams have been unaware of luongos availability.
And as far as the strange hall comparison, does that mean kesler will never a cup either cause he hasnt yet? Lets stick to the stuff that makes sense. - hugefemale dog77
You do know in the law of averages it is easier to put up better number with more games played right? |

Hartnell perhaps, but a lot of things need to go wrong for that one to work out. Hartnell is still slated to play with Giroux and Voracek.
Trading a shaky playoff goaltender for one that's older (albeit more proven), and on a longer contract? I just don't see it from Pittsburgh's side.
1 year deal for a 10 (9) year deal? |

Horvat has looked great. - MaximumBone
Honestly, those who see him regularly really aren't surprised. He's one of the top couple 2 way players in the OHL and he's 2 yrs younger then many of them. He was far and away the best player during the OHL playoffs.
I'm probably going to get rtrolled for this, but I see a ton of Toews in him. |

With goalies now being paid 6 mil and 6 years for average goalies when Oilers sign a major contract for a guy like Duby and have to pay close to 7 mil Lu will be looking pretty good.
Look at Price Rinne Crawford Howards MAF Bryz contracts for some of the latest signings and figure what you will pay for your average goalie in a couple of years. |

Maybe not quite that early on, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a top line roll down the road. If he can find chemistry with another guy like he did with Domi, he'll be golden!
Kinda want to see him play with Jensen in this rookie tourney. I think his strong two-way game and gritty offensive game would pair well with Jensen's puck control and shot. |

Oh, I know. I follow NA and Swedish prospects religiously during the season to fill up my leftover free time with hockey! That post was mostly just a cover-up for a mistaken quoting of myself. Couldn't think of anything witty to say so I just stated the obvious! |

Flyers will go nowhere with their current goaltending. If they are getting shelled Gillis could come with an offer (Something like this) Kesler Lu Edler for Hartnell B.Schenn Emery Couriere . Some kind of package of 2,4 or 6 players would be attractive for the Flyers or Pens. |

7 million for Dubnyk? Do you think he's THAT good? That's a Lundqvist-level cap hit! Sorry, I'm just so used to everyone unrightfully bashing Dubnyk that this just caught me off guard. Are you serious? 7 million?! I can't see him getting more then 5 million unless he blows last season's impressive numbers out of the water. |

Philly just got through with Bryzgalov and his albatross, do you really think they want to chance having another one? No offense meant to Lu as he's still a great starter, but Philly's system is a completely different ballgame than Vancouver's or even Florida's. He would get shelled the same way every other goalie would.
I wouldn't count Steve Mason out quite yet as he impressed late last season (albeit in a small sample). Emery is also a solid 1B goalie that could probably hold the line at least as well as Boucher and Leighton did in 2010.
I could see maybe one of Schenn or Cooter going over, but no way you're getting both regardless of the deal. I also can't see them having significant interest in Kesler after signing Lecavailer this off-season. |

If there is anything I've learned about Philly, its the don't learn. Snyder doesn't think long term. His MO is short term fixes

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Burrows Kesler Jensen
Booth Horvat Hansen - VANTEL
Is that an open question? Well, I'm answering it anyway:
Sedin- Sedin- Kassian 1
Jensen (assuming he excels)- Kesler- Hansen 2A
Higgins- Horvat- Burrows 2B
OR
Sedin- Sedin- Burrows (top line)
Higgins- Kesler- Kassian (tough minutes line)
Jensen- Horvat- Hansen (soft, sheltered minutes) |

Higgins >> Booth on account of injury risk. Also, he has the benefit of being a steadier two-way presence for your young players to play with. |

I agree 100% I just didn't want a 4.2 mil guy playing 4 th line so I put Higgins on 4 th with Richardson and Weise. |
