Signing bonus has always counted against the cap - Bieksa#3
So if signing bonuses always counted against the cap, how do you explain Shea Weber's contract?
http://www.capgeek.com/player/1042
Am I missing something here? This CBA stuff is confusing. |

That's somewhat of an understatement. - Jeffmt
?? how ??
his last 15 games he scores 7 points and has 4 of them in a good game against Ottawa...he for sure slowed down and is not worth anywhere near $6m/per
He might be after another couple seasons if he puts up .7 or .8 / game
But not right now, hence the reason he is about to sign a 1 or 2 year deal @ $3m
At least that's what I thought I seen on here or Tsn |

That's 6.4 million per, they make 6.1 now. Not exactly breaking the bank. |

Hard to take you serious, when you think Kadri is worth $6 and he's about to sign for about 1/2 of that. |

Kadri has approx. 65 pts/GM. Go look at the forwards coming off their entry level deal the last 2 summers with those numbers and I assure you 2.65 is far below average. So why don't you clean that coffee off your screen and think a bit before posting |

I think 3/4 year deal makes the most sense, then play it year by year after that. I would not pay them more than what they currently get. I would honestly try and sign them for a 5.5 cap hit, and would consider that reasonable. No need for a Clarkson contract. |

1st off I never said he was worth 6. I said he is worth far more the 2.65. And is he about to sign? Is that what ek says? |

The problem with the Kadri negotiations is that they are trying to figure out a fair number for what Kadri should pay the Leafs to be allowed to play in TO. |

If anything they resign for same money, not more IMO. |

I am still pissed that they don't wait until next year in the offseason to see what is available. That's when the best offers are available. |

You are DRUNK
If Subban can sign a bridge deal for 2 years at less than $3m.
How come you're not comparing him to that contract?
Very similar except Subban won the Norris and well Kadri might win something some day, MOST IMPROVED ESSO AWARD or something like that

Maybe a little..he was in a similar position, Markov went down and he got more ice time then he would have. They used that against him and he finally signed - it's either that or sit out and not play for a couple years or move to Russia.
Obviously he didn't like any of the options. |

While your cap numbers work Ian, your actual salary is violation of the CBA, no? 20% variance in any yr of the contract I believe. - Bieksa#3
From page 282 of the new CBA:
50.7 Variability Rules for Multi-Year SPCs.
(a) For all "Front-Loaded SPCs" (as defined below), the difference between the stated Player Salary and Bonuses in any immediately adjacent League Years of that SPC cannot exceed thirty-five (35) percent of the stated Player Salary and Bonuses of the first League Year of such Front-Loaded SPC. Additionally, under no circumstances may the stated Player Salary and Bonuses in any League Year of a Front-Loaded SPC be less than fifty (50) percent of the highest stated Player Salary and Bonuses in a League Year of that same Front-Loaded SPC.
So, it can vary 35% year to year, and a the highest year can be no more than double of the lowest. |
