Granlund has a shot at the big club if he keeps this up.

I would have thought that Wotherspoon would have shown better. I was surprised.

Well you would hear nothing about him at the tournament, To qualify you need to be 23 or younger and have played 25 or less games at the NHL level.

Oh ok so I take it he has likely played more then 25 NHL games. How is he turning out? There was a good amount of hype around him for a bit that is why I was curious because its calmed down a bit ?

He certainly does.

Also ICYMI - Leafs invited Raymond to camp on PTO. Was hoping he would get a shot with the Flames...

Just hope he does well and Kulemin becomes available, that's what I'm hoping for anyway

I suppose ill answer for ya

Horak's game has been up and down over the past year or so. He's a good defensive player and is likely going to be used for bottom 6 minutes. Doesnt have an offensive flare to his game, and isnt overly big, either.

He had a strong showing with the Heat last year in the AHL, but struggles at the NHL pace. He'll have another few showings this year but still has a ways to go in terms of development. He wont ever really be a name you hear often...quitely does his job when effective.

Theres no way Raymond replaces Kulemin...

Kulemin - Carlyle type player
Raymond - Well, not a Carlyle type player.

He was...and I feel that he was critiszed for his defensive game as many scouts were saying he was lazy defensively, and it appears hes worked a lot on that and now his offensive side has struggled a little. He needs to find a happy medium and put on some weight if he wants more ice time with the Flames.

Watched most of the practices and games in Penticton. Calgary is on its way back with a nice pool of prospects. This was a good tournament for all of the teams involved.

Sounds a little like Tedenby except he can't play on the other side of the puck at all but can't seem to stay in the line up or put any sort of size on

For your survey i picked Granlund, Poirier and Ortio. Thats not to say that they were the 3 best, but surprised me the most. Up until now i didn't think Granlund could be an NHL player. That was the most i had seen of Poirier and he looks good. Ortio was a forgotten goalie with the other 3-4 in the mix.

My favourite player was Reinhart, but i already thought he would be a gem. Culkin had a good tourny also and it will be interesting if he gets his 2 way deal out of it.

BTW... It's KEEGAN Kanzig not Keenan. I know cause he plays for my hometown Victoria Royals and he is a beast. Hasn't played as big as he should especially at 6'7" but when he wants to, he can be a monster.

First, nice write up, I'd have to agree with a lot of what was said. Secondly, just thought I'd share a couple tweets from Pat Steinberg of the Fan 960 in regards to Feaster's media scrum after the game.

"Feaster said they like their numbers heading into camp. Don't expect any free agent signings in the near future. #Flames"

"Feaster says they don't anticipate inviting anyone on a tryout basis to main camp"

Would explain the Raymond thing.

Just took a moment of silence in my day. To me, Kipper was the one who brought us out of darkness. Iggy was great but Kipper was our savior. Saves that man made in 2004 defy human anatomy, especially in that Vancouver series. This team should of won a cup with Kipper & Iggy in their primes. Oh well, no point chewing on old grass when there is hopefully greener grass in the next pasture. I don't care what anyone says, Kipper still has the ability to backstop a Cup winner on the right team. Give him a year off, we may see him again.

He's still only 21 I believe. He has time to find his entire game. It seems like a similar path that Backlund was/is on.
